"We recently employed the services and expertise of FPI Construction LLC and so happy we did! Pirfirio, Isidro and their crew could not have done a more professional job and it was a big one! From the 3-car driveway to the sidewalks and back patio every detail was executed with the best end result possible. We highly recommend their services and will hire them again for other concrete jobs we might have in the future."

"They did a great job with the porch and sidewalk, looks and is nice and solid. The garage had a lot of weed overgrowth, and they cleared it all out and poured a new apron. Looks so much better."

"Blue Construction deserves a 5-star rating on their concrete work in my property! They did my driveway and the concrete around my house in 2021. I was very pleased with the outcome. This year, I contracted them again to do the sidewalk on one side of my yard. Again, they did a most wonderful job. From my experience in contracting with Blue Construction, I can state without any reservation that this company is excellent in every way: their sales reps very easy to deal with, their pricing competitive, their project management very solid, their crew very professional, their communication very impressive and their customer service outstanding. I highly recommend Blue Contruction as a top choice for construction projects."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Addison, IL

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
