"This was my first time using Bob’s Plumbing and I’m very glad I did. Josh and Marty did a fantastic job installing 3 toilets, repairing some incorrectly installed pipes (installed by different company) under my sink and replacing the supply line to my dishwasher. They were efficient, courteous and friendly. You can tell they take pride in their work by the quality of the work they performed. Thanks Bob’s Plumbing!"

"My husband and I are having our home built for our property and need a Septic Tank installed.  This will be our first experience with such a system as we have always lived within city limits that provided City Sewer Service.  I found Jerry Thigpen Septic Tank Svc in an online search.  I called and left a message on the answering machine at noon and received a call back within 35 minutes.  Spoke to Mr and Mrs Thigpen, they both were very professional and pleasant to speak to.  Very informative as to what steps we need to do before he can give us an estimate for a new system.  Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Thigpen we look forward to doing business with you.
Will do a reveiw followup once services are rendered.

"We first had TM out for our yearly fall furnace maintenence inspection. The service tech was helpful but unfortunately the pilot wouldnt stay lit on our old furnace because of a damaged gas control valve. (This was diagnosed after first changing the thermocouple and a few other things). In lieu of replacing the $400 part on our 24 year-old furnace we opted for replacement. We got several estimates (4+) and their's was the second best as far as price (about $120 more than the cheapest estimate), but they could be out the quickest and we chose them because we had been using them for our HVAC needs. They gave us an estimated arrival time between 800-1000 and said the work would take between 4-6 hours to replace. They arrived promptly at exactly 8:00AM and were finished by 11:30.
The overall work was good, but to get a similar parts/labor warranty to a competitor we did have to pay extra ($150 more than competitor pricing for similar extended warranty). Also, the coupon stated for ALL installations did not specify full system installations but was not honored for the partial installation of the furnace only. Also, we were told 12/months same as cash financing over the phone, but the person who processed it, processed it for only 6 months. This is not a major issue for us as we intended to pay it off in less than that time anyway, but I can see how it could be for other customers so it is worth mentioning.
For these reasons I couldn't give the full A-Excellent remark for their most recent visit, although we will continue to use them in the future for our HVAC needs as all other service calls from them I would rate as an A experience.

"A week project took three weeks. Three times people scheduled to come but didn't show up or call. Some work had to be redone. We had plenty of visits from supervisors. Ultimately the work was finished to our satisfaction."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Akers, LA

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
