You can’t afford to wait around when you need help with your roofing. Get superior service from Action Roofing, the top choice of roofing companies in Central Florida. When you rely on our roofers to get the job done right, you’ll experience unmatched quality service and integrity.

"The service provided by Action Roofing is stellar. I was particularly impressed with how informative, professional and caring the customer service representative, Miguel, was. I had a horrible leak in my living room and they handled the issue very quickly and communicated every step of the process. Overall a great team, thanks so much!!"

We hand-picked our exclusive products with you, your family, and your home's aesthetic and longevity in mind. All of our products were created to keep your home energy efficient and protected in every way. Our commitment to excellence does not waiver. We understand what it means to own a home, and we understand as professionals what you and your home deserve. We live each day by our mission statement; "Improving the Community, One Home at a Time," and thank you for continuing to trust us!

"First of all, we way overpaid for new French doors to replace our old French doors. We paid $6,000. Then they said that some brickwork needed to be done that was sagging. We hired a company they suggested could do it for $100. It cost $700, but that company did a great job. Then they complained about the job that company did. We had just installed brand new hardwood floors that they rough cut to fit the door in place leaving a huge gap that they filled with brown caulk. I wanted brass hinges. They informed me that they only had stainless steel. I told them I would prefer brass because everything else we have in the house is brass. They ended up giving me an antique brass but did not inform me that those would void my warranty. The hinges are completely rusted and they will not replace them because they said I asked for them. I did ask for them. But when they informed me they would rust I said to keep the others. They are very, very difficult to get a hold of. I've left messages and had phone calls returned weeks after placing the call. And the doors are ugly. I'm not terribly picky. We are do it yourselves, so I understand how projects work. These are not people I would want to do anymore work at my house. When I asked for replacement hinges they told me they would be $140 because I asked for the brass ones but never got back with me to provide them or order them for me. We spent A LOT of money on these doors to not be supported at all. And they have a lot less window than the old doors. Just not a good experience."

We are so confident that our customers will be happy with their new or repaired roofs that we only take payment on completion of work for most jobs under $20,000! Customer satisfaction has always driven us, and through word-of-mouth, our customer base has grown over the years. Watertight Roofing is proud to be a GAF Master Elite roofer, which allows us to offer you three different types of roofing warranties. When the owners of Watertight Roofing entered the building-industry arena several decades ago, we knew that a reputation in this business means everything. We have always treated our customers’ homes as if they were our own, which has created a successful business and a very long list of satisfied homeowners.

"Buyer beware—based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend Watertight Roofing for roof replacement. The communication with the company is poor, and attention to detail in their workmanship is lacking. I encountered numerous issues that were only resolved haphazardly. The owner stated to me that once the issues were resolved, I should call him to discuss the bill, which any reasonable person would interpret as an offer for a discount given the inconvenience. However, when the work was completed, I couldn’t reach him. The office informed me that the owner apologized for any misunderstanding and insisted that the original bill was fair. I paid the full amount immediately. Below, I’ve outlined my experience with supporting photos—ultimately, the decision is yours. Initially, the quote and communication with the staff over the phone were fine. However, my experience took a turn when the workers arrived for installation on 02/12/25. There was no introduction, no indication of who was in charge, and no communication with me at all. The crew started working without acknowledging my presence. I had some concerns, as I had recently installed fascia and soffit, and wanted to let the team know about the wood I had purchased for under the drip edge. Unfortunately, the crew didn’t speak English, and I struggled to find someone who could address my questions. After some back and forth, I finally spoke to someone who seemed annoyed by my concerns about the wood. He told me it wasn’t enough, despite me measuring it carefully. He also didn’t know whether the flat roof was being worked on, which struck me as odd. The crew worked long hours, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, but it seemed they were more focused on finishing quickly than ensuring quality. Later, the owner, Sean, explained that no supervisor was present that day, which would have ensured proper communication. The roof installation itself was rough—at times, the noise was so intense it felt like something might fall through the ceiling. I’ve had two roofs installed previously, but never have I heard such loud “booms” or experienced the amount of vibration I did with Watertight Roofing. This caused cracks in the ceiling texture in my back bedroom and even nails to push through the ceiling in another room. The owner promised to send a drywall person to fix the damage, but while the cracked ceiling was repaired, it will never quite be the same. Another issue involved the metal flashing at the junction of my roof and flat roof. The flashing was bent and damaged from the fascia replacement. I assumed it would be replaced as part of the new roof, but after trying to communicate with a worker who didn’t speak English and trying to get help from the office, the flashing was only fixed after some back and forth. The worker seemed upset by my call to the office, and the flashing was hammered flat and poorly repaired. It was eventually changed. During this process, my new fascia got scratched, and a piece of the drip edge was left sticking up, which I had to fix myself. To make matters worse, during the removal of the old drip edge, a five-foot section of my soffit, in the front of my house, was torn off and discarded in the dumpster. Where the soffit was torn off it created a noticeable gap between two fascia pieces on the edge. No one inspected the job when they were done, and I had to follow up with the office to get the soffit fixed. Even after that, the work was sloppy. The screws in the wood weren’t countersunk, so now I have to do that myself, along with filling in the holes and painting. The caulking job was also poorly done—rather than properly sealing the gap between the fascia pieces, they just filled it with caulk. The roofing crew left behind a lot of materials on the side of my driveway with no communication about whether they were mine or if someone would pick them up. After the installation, I had to clean up tar and finger marks from the drip edge around the house, cutting my finger in the process, and pick up small pieces of trash from my roof. I emailed the office outlining these issues, and the owner finally contacted me to set up a meeting. He was an hour late and had the office call to notify me. When he arrived, he admitted that communication had been poor and he did not have a supervisor on property during the installation. He promised to fix the issues. He told me not to pay the bill until everything was completed. He mentioned it would take about a week and a half to finish everything. Fast forward to today, 03/12/25—one month later—I paid the full bill. After sending pictures to the owner on 03/06/25 and following up on 03/11/25, I received an email from the office stating that the owner felt it was fair to maintain the original bill, and that they addressed the issues. The owner never contacted me directly and clearly had no intention of speaking to me. In the end, I had to deal with poor communication, a lack of supervision, incomplete repairs, and many frustrating tasks that I had to handle myself. I was patient and understanding, but my family and I have had a thoroughly unpleasant experience with Watertight Roofing. While I now have a roof, I don’t believe anyone should have to go through the same ordeal we did. Please consider this review before making a decision—hopefully, you can avoid the same frustration we faced."

"Horrible experience. They did a bad job on the original install. I found a bunch of holes in my attic afterwards. I had to fight them to get it fixed. 8 patches on a brand new roof. Ridiculous. The repair team that showed up was unprepared and had to use my tools all day. Had to babysit these guys to make sure I got good work. Now, Phillip Martinez refuses to answer my calls when the situation still hasn’t been rectified. If you already bought a roof from this company I highly recommend getting in your attic and checking your decking. These people give new meaning to the word unethical."

FAQs for natural slate roofing installation and replacement projects in Alachua, FL

A slate roof features thin tiles of natural stone installed over a solid deck and underlayment. Formed under intense heat and pressure, slate is exceptionally durable and delivers a distinctive, high-end look. Because the material weighs far more than asphalt, most homes need added structural support before installation.

While upfront costs are higher and routine inspections are a must, many homeowners choose slate for its unmatched longevity and curb appeal.

Slate stands out for its 50- to 200-year life span, low maintenance, and classic aesthetic. It’s fire-resistant, energy-efficient, and often boosts resale value.

On the flip side, slate runs far more per square foot than asphalt, weighs up to four times as much, and demands a contractor who specializes in the material. Tiles can crack on impact, and repairs cost more because the work is slow and precise. If your budget and structure can handle it, slate delivers top-tier performance for generations.

Natural and synthetic slate aim for a premium, stone-like appearance, whereas asphalt focuses on affordability. Real slate runs $10 to $30 per square foot installed and lasts up to 200 years; synthetic slate costs $10 to $15 and tops out at 50 to 100 years.

Standard asphalt averages $3 to $8 per square foot and needs replacement every 20 to 30 years. If you want the slate look without the full price tag—or extra roof weight—synthetic is a solid middle ground.

With routine inspections and prompt repairs, a natural slate roof can last well beyond 100 years; some hard-slate installations reach the 200-year mark. Soft slate falls in the 50- to 125-year range, and synthetic products last 50 to 100 years.

Remember, flashing, fasteners, and the underlying structure may need attention sooner than the stone itself. Severe hail or fallen limbs can also shorten life span, so schedule periodic checkups with a slate-qualified roofer.

If you plan to stay in your home long term—or want a standout selling point—slate delivers strong value. Although installation costs are high, owners often recoup 60% to 70% at resale and enjoy lower replacement cycles than asphalt. The stone’s durability, energy efficiency, and timeless curb appeal also appeal to eco-conscious buyers because fewer roofs end up in landfills. Just be sure your framing can handle the weight and that you budget for occasional specialty repairs.

Skip the DIY climb if you have a slate roof. Slate may be tough against the weather, but a single misplaced step can crack a tile and create a leak path. The surface also turns slick when wet, upping the risk of injury. Professional crews use staging and hook ladders that spread weight across multiple slates, protecting both the roof and the worker. To inspect or repair slate, call a roofer who specializes in the material.
