"Miguel and his crew were on time daily and did an outstanding job on the installation of the flooring, cabinets and countertops for our kitchen renovation. Our job was performed on time and in budget as promised. Miguel communicated effectively every step of the process and there were no surprises. They also cleaned up and disposed of all construction debris daily. We would definitely hire again, Miguel's workmanship was stellar."

"We didnt actual use Imperial Stone for a granite installation, but we did use them for a second opinion we were having regarding the difference of opinion we were having with our fabricator on the recommended maximum unsupported overhang for an installation off granite on an island. The person I spoke with was very pleasant, was knowledgable, and displayed common sense. I would feel comfortable recommending them."

"I wholeheartedly recommend AB Spectrum for your projects at home requiring a Handyman. We recently purchased our home and had a number of items from the inspection report and other projects we needed done. These included installing lattice work on our deck to make it baby-proof, installing baby gates, running Cat-6 ethernet cable, mounting a TV, securing and caulking toilets, among a number of other small repairs, etc. Andrei is a consummate professional. He is detail oriented and thorough. When giving an estimate he took his time to assess the feasibility of each project and to plan out the process. He is timely and delivers as promised. He takes pride in his work and it shows. We couldn’t be more pleased with the result. After he finished our project, I immediately recommended him to my parents who had some damaged shoe molding in need of repair and shelving installed in the garage. I have his number saved and pass it along to any friend or colleague in need of a Handyman. I recommend AB Spectrum enthusiastically and without reservation."

"Great job! I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for an honest, reputable company. All costs were reviewed beforehand. Timeline was updated throughout so no surprises. It was initially delayed due to the job before us being more extensive than originally thought but that was communicated clearly. Roof looks amazing!"

"Derek checked our granite countertops (which his company installed a few years before) to see what sort of cleaning might be needed based on what the stains looked like. He explained the cost of having one of his guys coming out to give the counter a deep cleaning and then mentioned that I could in fact do it on my own if I bought the same products they were going to use. I really appreciated that since we have quite small countertops & it wasn't worth the cost of a crew coming out to clean them (over $200). We bought cleaners & a sealer from him & didn't have to pay the call-out fee since we bought products from the company."

FAQs for laminate countertops installation projects in Albemarle, NC

With the right care and a professional installation, laminate counters last 10 to 15 years. Wipe up spills quickly, clean with a nonabrasive product, and keep hot pots off the surface to prevent warping or scorch marks. Limiting prolonged moisture at seams also pays off. Your installer can walk you through simple maintenance habits that will help you squeeze every year out of your new counters.

Yes—if the existing laminate is solid and level, a pro can bond a fresh sheet right on top. They’ll rough up the old surface, apply the correct adhesive, and make precise cuts so the new layer sits tight. Skipping steps can lead to bubbles or weak seams, so this project is best left to an experienced installer who has the tools to deliver a clean, durable finish.

Absolutely, you can give tired laminate a facelift with paint, tile, or a concrete overlay instead of a full tear-out. The key is thorough prep: clean, degrease, and lightly sand so the new finish sticks.

Follow the product instructions for primer, sealers, and cure times, or hire a pro if you’d rather avoid the mess. When done correctly, these updates freshen the look and add a few more years of useful life.

Mix baking soda with just enough water to form a paste, then spread it over the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Wipe away with a soft, damp cloth—don’t scrub, as abrasives can dull the surface. Repeat if needed. For stubborn marks, ask your installer about cleaners made specifically for laminate.

Laminate isn’t built to battle the elements. Water, UV rays, and temperature swings quickly cause swelling, fading, and mold. Even a covered patio won’t protect the material for long. If you’re planning an outdoor kitchen or bar, skip laminate and choose a weather-tough option like stone, tile, or concrete so you don’t end up replacing your counters after the first season.

Traditional laminate isn’t the greenest choice. Most sheets rely on plastics like melamine and can emit trace VOCs over time. They also can’t be recycled at the end of their life. A few brands now use recycled pulp cores, but plastics still make up much of the product.

If sustainability tops your list, consider natural or recyclable materials such as solid wood, stone, or recycled glass instead.
