"Kramer's quote for the project was fair and did not change as the project progressed. Kramer took initiative to solve problems and to get clarity when needed. He did a great job laying the floor tile and setting the backsplash for both the kitchen and bathroom. I have already hired to install three external doors for another property of mine."

"Felipe and his crew did a large project for me (back porch) and myriad smaller items to repair our new home. Short version: I'll definitely be using them again and recommending them, but you need to be engaged. They are not a set-and-forget crew. In general, the quality of the work is high. The porch is exactly as we imagined it and we're quite happy. The only issues I have with some of the work is the fit and finish. Roofing nails missing the joists weren't redone, so now there are nails hanging into my porch. The ramset nails they used to attach the base plate to the concrete pad had some kind of wax/rubber around them which wasn't completely removed prior to painting, so there are weird nubs sticking up on the base plate. Some of the screws on door moulding weren't puttied over. The biggest issue I had with them was communication and scheduling. Felipe forgot a few parts of the project and things got dropped a few times. It worked out because I was paying close attention, but I think he may just have too much going on so things will fall between the cracks. Scheduling was a regular issue. Our project took place right outside of our bedroom, so we wanted to know the night before if they would be there. It was about 50/50 whether they'd give us that heads up. They also broke an expensive high security lock and I was not reimbursed or discounted. On the scale of the project, it was a rounding error in cost, but it's the principle of the matter on that one."

"Contractor keep appointment (even though there were 2 or 3 calls expressing confusion about time and day); installed the drywall and cleaned the area.   The drywall installation was not smooth and when textured looked amateurish at best.  Before I could paint I had to sand several areas and apply canned texture-not the most professional look but time was a factor.  the next time the wall is painted will require extensive prep work to make it look professional.
Good things: appointment keep; work was done as explained; no extra charges.
Not so good: Technician was not a drywall guy.

"Coming into the Albuquerque area from out of state, we selected Albert Gonzales of POWER CONSTRUCTION  based on the several positive evaluations on Angie's List--and despite one transparently malcontent review.

Upon meeting Albert and seeing his performance--assisted by one of his workers--on the shower door installation and hanging of the stained glass, we began negotiations on the adobe/stucco privacy wall we wished to install in the front of our house.  At this stage of our relationship, my wife and I took both a liking to and felt a sense of confidence in Albert's experience and expertise in the area of the job we needed done.  After our initial discussions, Albert presented us with a detailed contract of the stages of our privacy wall installation as well as the time line and cost installments.  Hearing our initial concepts, Albert both echoed our wishes and made some incisive suggestions to improve our ideas.  He also recommended a source for the gate.  When he presented the contract to us, we were pleased by his specificity in  the stages of the project as well as his payment plan.

Once the project began on a Monday morning, Albert and his two main helpers consistently impressed us with their punctuality, work rate, and their friendly and respectful attitude. We came to appreciate their sense of professional pride, ethics, skills, dedication, and their positive attitude.  We were able to observe their work rate and the quality of their dedication.  Each day ended with a thorough clean-up. We never had the feeling that corners were cut or anything less than appropriate was being provided.  After the 16-inch footing was installed and the five feet of  adobe bricks were constructed, Albert utilized the services of a wire installation and stucco subcontractor.  It was clear that Albert supervised and maintained responsibility over the quality of their work, even on a Saturday.  Albert then had the windows with latillas installed and stained as well as the main gate.

Finally, he and his two assistants cleaned up and restored the landscaping.  We could not be more pleased with the final result.

Of interest is the fact that several local homeowners, upon observing the progress of our privacy wall, stopped by to solicit future jobs for Albert.  Our own judgment is thus reinforced by others' perception that Albert and his company provide a level of craftsmanship and service that is outstanding.

We will call on Albert and his crew to perform any appropriate services for us and feel they deserve the highest recommendations.

FAQs for baseboard installation projects in Albuquerque, NM

Installing crown molding can be challenging, depending on the material and your skill level. Lightweight materials like polystyrene and softwoods are easier for homeowners to install themselves, offering a cost-saving option. However, heavier materials like hardwoods and plaster are difficult to work with and require professional installation to achieve a high-quality result. Precision is crucial in measuring, cutting, and fitting crown molding, so hiring a professional ensures the best outcome.

Crown molding is available at various price points, ranging from $1 to $30 per linear foot, depending on the material. This wide range offers options for every budget. Affordable materials like MDF, PVC, and polystyrene provide cost-effective solutions, while premium materials like exotic hardwoods or metal offer a luxurious appearance at a higher cost. Regardless of your budget, you can find crown molding that enhances your home's aesthetic.

Crown molding is installed by professional finish carpenters or painters who specialize in detailed trim work. These experts possess the necessary skills and tools to ensure precise measurements, accurate cuts, and seamless installation. By hiring a professional, you can achieve a flawless finish that enhances your home's aesthetic appeal without the risk of common DIY mistakes.

Crown molding can be installed in various areas of your house to add elegance and architectural interest. It is commonly used where walls meet the ceiling, but you can also place crown molding around doors, windows, mirrors, and atop cabinets. Installing crown molding in these locations enhances visual appeal, creates a cohesive design, and adds a touch of sophistication to your home's interior.

To determine how much crown molding to purchase, start by measuring the length of each wall where you plan to install crown molding and add the measurements together to determine the total linear feet required. Purchase an extra 10% of material to account for waste from cutting angles and to ensure seamless joints by using full-length pieces when possible. Including additional material helps avoid shortages and ensures a smooth installation process.

For a professional crown molding installer, this task takes about 1 to 3 hours per room, depending on size and complexity. Factors like the material, design intricacy, and number of corners can affect the time. If you're doing it yourself, expect it to take longer as you get the hang of measuring and cutting precise angles. Advanced measuring and planning or hiring a pro can help the project go smoothly.
