"The rep was prompt in arriving for the in-house appointment to give me a bid for services. The presentation was fine, to the point without pressure, focusing on their quality work (which was in line with some personal contacts I had made). After getting this and other bids and making the comparisons of price and windows supplies (researched manufacturers on line) I decided to use a different vendor. With an Angie's List coupon, which I had mentioned when I made the appointment, I was to receive a Casey's gift card for getting the in-house meeting. The rep said they were out at the moment but would send the card wether or not I selected Home Town, just as the Angie's List ad promised. That was in September. Sad to say, I never received the Casey's gift card. The card was a small perk to contacting a company I would have contacted anyway. It was a surprise and small disappointing result. Would I hire again? I marked Yes, but that is subject to research and comparing bids."

"I was a little nervous about ordering windows on the internet using measurements I'd taken myself, but I loved the design on the website so, initially I only ordered 2 windows to check the quality, my ability to measure accurately and the company's ability to build to my measurements. Jeff, the salesman I dealt with was attentive without being overwhelming and the first order was delivered in about 4 weeks. The windows were exactly what I was looking for and fitting them was a breeze. I followed up with another order for the remaining 13 windows in my porch and again, they arrived quickly, were of great quality, exactly to size and easy to fit. Looking forward to see how they last their first winter."

"He does a great job. His prices are fair. He returns calls or texts. He is nice to my kids and my dog. He is reliable. If you are someone who must have a set bid that will not change at all before proceeding with a project, he may not be the handyman for you, but I have never been shocked by his bills at the end of a project. <br />"

"Gary was very prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and his estimate was spot on. I work for local architects and engineers and have many years experience in the construction industry. Gary demonstrated a high level of reliability-I was comfortable leaving him with the project well in hand while I didn't miss work.  The project was started a little late in the season and they were very accommodating to get it done before the cold set in. In fact it was a bitter cold and icy when I asked him to do the shutters.  The shutter installation was added when I realized I would need a 30 ft ladder and couldn't do it myself. The amount he charged was so much less- it was more of a favor! <br /> The results were astonishing. It turned out I did not have as much framing damage as I feared.  I would recommend Gary to friends, neighbors, and even my own daughter. <br /> This review is long overdue. I had so much going on with winter and holidays coming that I just forgot."

"The work that Drew Davis and his crew of Better Home Remodelers did, surpassed my expectations. Better Home Remodelers transformed the bathroom by their detailed and beautiful work. Even to this day, I still notice exacting touches they did that now sets my bathroom apart from what I see in most homes. I was out of town for an extended period and they chose colors for the paint and counter top that are stunning. Since the bathroom was finished I've contracted Better Home Remodelers for other services. They are great!"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Marion, IA

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
