"Keith and his crew were very timely and professional.  I was traveling most of the time during the remodel but felt comfortable leaving his team with access to our home while away.  Keith is a wealth of information and provided great suggestions including where to get the best deal and selection on granite (Amazon Stone in Oviedo).  The work has just been completed and my wife and I are completely satisfied with the work done.  We had originally wanted to include outdoor work but budget constraints put that on hold for the time being.  We will definitely go to Keith and his team again should we need more remodeling done in the future. <br />"

"First and foremost - Bobby is pleasant, professional, skilled and he CALLS and SHOWS UP when he says (what a concept!) unlike others we've used in the past.  He removed, replaced and finished three rotted doors/frames and rotted flooring.  He was reasonably priced and did a great job. Bobby is the RARE guy that has an old school work ethic in every aspect of his job..  He's there when he says he'll be there, he calls ahead to let you know when he'll be there, he answers his phone when you call him, he takes pride in his work, he knows what he's doing, he has a great attitude and he's a nice guy.  What more could you want when hiring a handyman?  From now on whenever we need work done we'll be calling Bobby. <br />"

"They were on time and professional and I was very pleased with the work. Leo's son Jessie was amazing and I was glad that he came out to do the work. I am going to be using them again to paint my balcony railing and to stain the fence."

"Phillips Construction is the only contractor I have used since relocating to FL, and I have no intention of using any other. In all my years as a civil engineer working in construction, I have never worked with a more professional contractor, and only very few as professional. All company personnel are extremely professional, courteous, and personable. The attention to detail in the work performed is truly outstanding. Exceptional clean-up is a matter of fact with the personnel. Always on time and true to their word, they are a pleasure to have around your home. I have no complaint whatever with rates on any of the 3 jobs performed for me, and I consider them to be very reasonable for the outstanding work performed. <br /> <br />"

"We really had a great experience with them. The owner is very well spoken and polite. His helpers are always clean and polite as well. The work is always completed beyond my expectations and they always have useful suggestions on new products and materials to use to complete the project. Take the time to meet them and experience their attention detail. Can't wait to work with them on upcoming kitchen remodel!!"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Allandale, FL

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
