"Derek was excellent. Came on time and went right to work. Very fair pricing for the electrical work he did. There was no delaying or trying to oversell me. I would highly recommend giving him your business."

"I had made a request on-line for ceiling fan repair and balance. Home Advisor contacted me and said they had a recommendation. I was contacted by Metro Electric and told the repairman would have everything needed to repair and balance fans. Repairman showed up and said he only installed them but would look at mine if I would like. Nothing was accomplished. Shame on me for not sending him away. He looked for any issues he could fix and said he could not help me. He then checked the whole house for any electrical issues and gave me a report card. I paid him $345.00 for his time and service. Would not recommend Metro for fan repair or balance, they just install fans. I have since been contacted by Metro and was refunded all my money due to the mix-up and misunderstanding. I will be recommending Metro based on their professional and overall customer service."

"Upgraded our electrical panel. Did a great job, and completed job quickly and efficiently as promised. The guys who came to complete the job were great. Only reason we're not giving a 5 star is that we started having issues with our well pump tripping the breaker after the job was done, and we have put in 2 requests in for them to see if it's a wiring issue or something with our pump, but we haven't gotten a response in a couple of weeks."

"I called Dependable Power for a service change and rewire of my service panel. Joshua arrived on time and ready to work. He was prompt and very thorough. He explained every step and answered every question I had. He addressed safety issues with my panel and made sure me and my family will have a safe, reliable, and dependable electric service for years to come. Its had to find someone you can trust when it comes to home upgrades. From now on Dependable Power will be the only ones I call for future services. 10/10 would 100% recommend to any one needing electrical work."

"Extreme Exteriors did an excellent job. Not only did they install an extensive system of quality gutterguards on my large home, they did it in a professional and complete manner. While they were on the roof they noticed several small issues and fixed them. We are extremely happy and satisfied with the quality of the product installed and the craftmanship of the application. We are very happy with the result and the obvious improvement to the equity of our home. They were personable and professional in their manner. Money well spent on such a fine upgrade, excellent work, and they finished the job in a timely manner. Very happy that trees will no longer grow in our 6" continuous aluminum gutters. :-)"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Allenton, MI

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
