"Overall, the job went very well. Aaron was the supervisor and was able to expedite my job to a window in his schedule that no other contractors were able to accommodate. There was a nice week between storms that he got his crew in to remove the old tiles, clean up, perform inspections and get the new materials installed. There was a minor glitch in the removal part of the job (a rain gutter was damaged), but Aaron handled it exceptionally. At the end of the job, I asked Aaron to take my phone camera onto the roof and take pictures, since I can't get up there myself to inspect. He provided excellent photos of all the critical areas of the roof, louvers, pipe outlets, etc. He even provided photos of the chimney stucco that shows extreme weather damage, so I can show them to the next (stucco) contractor for that upcoming job. "Initially we called Protecta Roofing to get our roof inspected. Even though we currently did not have leak issues we thought it wise to have the roof inspected as the ceramic tiles were close to 30 years old. Mario was prompt in responding and coming out to inspect. We were informed of 10 broken tiles. Our decision was to have the tiles replaced and power wash the roof to remove algae which included applying an organic sealant product. After a couple weeks of failed attempts to obtain an estimate from Mario I was in touch with Edith, the company sales manager. From then on the communication and process went smoothly. Edith and crew were a delight to work with. Her knowledge of the work to be done and concern for my satisfaction were impressive. In addition to repairing the broken tiles, our solar panels were cleaned along with painting the pipe flashings. Because everything looked so clean we decided to have Protecta power wash our driveway and side walkways, which are also cleaned with the organic algae solution. The work done was outstanding!"

"I had a small roof leak. I got a few estimates, Excaliber was the lowest although they had a disclaimer that the bill could be higher if they found wood rot. They did find a small amount and there was a small extra charge but I think it was fair. I would definitely use them again after some bad past experiences with roofers, it's nice to find an honest and professional company."

"I was planning to put solar panels on my roof, so needed a roof inspection. I wanted to make sure my roof would last at least 10 more years. I selected several companies and A-1 Budget roofing responded promptly and had a good price. I found out that my existing roofing felt (tar paper) was worn and needed replacing, but my tile was in good shape and could be reused.
First, I had my roof tile cleaned to remove algae.
Then A-1 Budget roofing scheduled the work around the rain, and coordinated the installation with the solar panel company. They removed and stacked the old tile on my roof, removed the old roofing felt and replaced with two layers of 40 pound felt. They had the solar company place their brackets on the roof so they could properly seal them before they completed the re-roofing. This took several days to complete, but all was done before the rain.
They also removed some very old bird nests that were tucked under the eaves, and put up bird stop to keep those birds from nesting again. They replaced some flashing as needed and some broken tile, and when they were done all of the color matched perfectly.
The original bid was for $8500 and he had to check on permit fees from the city. The final invoice included the original $8500, minor costs of $64 for new fascia board, and $380 for roofing permit.
My new roof is warranted for 10 years, but they told me it should last another 40 - 50 years with two layers of 40 pound felt.
