"Antonio and his crew worked tirelessly and professionally to install a slate walkway and front steps at my residence. Roger Landscaping and Concrete, in my opinion, gives new meaning to to the term customer satisfaction. Antonio listens to his customers and makes sure they are satisfied with his teams work. If you are in need of stonework of any kind, give Roger Landscaping and Concrete a clall."

"George and his team are amazing! They took my old, dated patio and walkway with loose steps and used their magic to make it safe and inviting. Not only were they polite they consistently showed up on time, they accommodated our schedule. They finished on time. The finished project turned out better than expected!"

"fMarcus had been referred to me by a friend who had used him when building his house. I spoke to him on the phone and we agreed on a time to meet at the job site for an estimate. Right from the beginning Marcus couldn't have been more patient, friendly, helpful and professional. We met on time and I showed him the four crumbling concrete steps in the rear of the building, the crumbling concrete stoop in the front of the building and the cinder block wall with cracks in it. There were also two loose pieces of irregular shaped slate at the base of the steps, which was a trip hazard. The steps were not all the same height, so Marcus recommended reducing the rise in the taller steps by adding concrete. He also excavated at the base of the steps, cut the slate into three perfect rectangles and cemented them in. No more tripping hazard and everything looks great! He was also able to repair and reinforce a crumbling concrete stoop in the front of the building after I had been told by other contractors that it had to be replaced. As he was working, Marcus would give me options and come up with better solutions, like strengthening the wall with short pieces of rebar. I would definitely hire Marcus again!

"The job went smoothly and professionally from start to finish. Alan was punctual for our appointment to discuss the paint job. He took the time to answer all my questions and concerns. Candi had the detailed quote available in just two days. The painting crew showed up on time and worked tirelessly for the next 9 days to finish the prep and painting work. Jose, Sammy, Max and Richie were very polite and very willing to discuss the status of the work. They worked very cleanly during the prepping and painting. They put down plastic tarps to collect all the scrapings and cleaned up the yard each evening before going home. At the end of the job, Richie and I had a walk-around the house to make sure I was happy with the job. The paint used for the job was high quality and included in the cost. My wife and I are very happy with the results and surprised how quickly the job was done

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Amenia, NY

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
