"We hired GWC (Gary Ward Contractor) to remodel our beachside efficiency condo in Long Beach, CA, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Gary completely transformed our compact space—gutting everything but the bathroom—and brought our vision to life with precision and craftsmanship. Working with our designer and architect, Gary opened up the main living area and installed a stunning, multifunctional Murphy bed system from Resource Furniture (Italy). It doubles as a desk and TV station by day and converts to a bed at night. To offset the loss of closet space, he built a gorgeous custom wardrobe with drawers, plus a built-in refrigerator that blends seamlessly into the cabinetry. He also handcrafted all the kitchen cabinets, installed quartzite countertops, a designer backsplash, new sink and faucet, and repainted the entire unit with great attention to detail. Gary’s work was impeccable—every line aligned, every feature functional. He navigated the complexities of working in a historic 1927 building with experience and care. We always felt he was committed to getting it right. We’d gladly hire GWC again and recommend him without hesitation. "BEWARE OF COASTAL KITCHENS & BATHS! This review is for a complete remodel of our master bathroom that occurred in early 2024. This business has no BBB rating. This business has no employees. This business has no presence on Houzz, Angi.com, Home Advisor, Yelp or any place else online and no website. Everyone who works for John Bailey is a sub-contractor. His subs vary widely in quality. Some are good and some are not. His idiot painter tracked white paint all over our master bedroom carpet. When I complained to John about that he responded that we were going to replace the carpet anyway and so what! His sub-contractors had to access the bathroom by going through our master bedroom. THEY DIDN'T EVEN PUT DOWN DROP CLOTHs. When I complained to John about that he had them put down tarps that were so filthy that it made our floors even worse than before. When it came time to install the vanity countertop the supplier (Best Cheer Stone) delivered the wrong countertop and John didn't even notice! My wife caught the mistake. John pressured us into accepting the mistake by telling us there would be a 2-3 week delay in the project if we insisted on returning the countertop. He did get us a discount from the supplier but it’s still the wrong countertop. Recently I noticed that one of the bathroom floor tiles had cracked only 10 months after installation so I called John to see if he would replace it. He told me he would talk to his tile guy and get back to me. A week later still no response so I called him back. He clearly did not want to accept responsibility and told me that replacing the tile might damage other tiles. This is nonsense because I have had 3 tile contractors look at the job and none of them said anything about that. When I tried to get John to accept responsibility for the cracked tile he got mad and hung up on me! BEWARE OF COASTAL KITCHENS & BATHS! John Bailey is super sketchy and will blow smoke at you all day long to get your money. He does not guarantee the work and will leave you with a $600 extra charge for tile replacement. I have other complaints too but in the interest of brevity I will stop here."

"I really enjoyed working with Mike, Chris and June. I had high hopes of getting into our remodeled home within the allotted time that was discussed in the contract but when Covid hit it made the process much longer. Our choices were out of stock or were coming in later than promised. But overall Mike and his team were so professional and so honest with me and my husband about what step they were on or any problems that came up. I would definitely recommend and rehire again in the future. Thank you Mike and Chris"

"We started the process of building our detached ADU at the beginning of 2022. We hired an Architect, who drew up a plan to build a 1200 sq ft, 3 bedroom 2.5 bathroom house. After 14 months of waiting and addressing revisions required by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety we got our permit in “Ready to Issue” status. While waiting for city approval, we all started looking for a fair, reliable and honest contractor who would do good/solid construction. We started the process of interviewing contractors and getting bids for the job. After several meetings and several bids, we met Micky Kanian with “AGA Construction”. We found Micky on Yelp. One of his references took us thru an ADU that Micky and team built for his elderly mother-in-law to live in. This family could not say enough good things about Micky and team. They took us thru the property and explained their experience in great detail. We saw another beautiful AGA project, a 5k sq ft + project that was in progress and really knew that day that we’d found our contractor. We weren’t quite ready to pull the trigger for personal reasons, so we put the project on hold. Meanwhile, we continued to collect a couple of other bids that were already in progress. During this process, AGA kept in touch with us. They checked in every few weeks or so, without being pushy or intrusive. After a delay of about 9 months, we decided to move forward with AGA construction. No one is a tougher critic than me. I was dreading this project because of the amount of stress that I knew we’d be under. Both financially and mentally. We’ve all heard and/or lived thru the horror of a construction project gone wrong. I won’t bury the lead any further. We love our ADU!!!!! We started the project on Jan 31st of 2024. We were told that the project would take 6-8 months. We lost the first 6 weeks or so with the heavy rains from last year, but even with that delay, we were mostly done with the project by the middle of August. We ran into the “expected” unknowns and surprises – all dealt with fairly and quickly by Micky and team. I would like to call out Joachin who was amazing. We always felt like we were in the best of qualified hands during this entire process. All inspections were signed off, the last checks were written, and we now have a gorgeous new home behind the main house on that property. We were so happy with the project and trusted Micky and Joachin so much, that we immediately launched a second project of gutting and renovating a very large master bathroom for my In-Laws. That job started on September 23rd and was done the first or second week of November as promised. It would’ve been done sooner, but we had a little “client indecision” that cost us about a week or two. All in all, I would highly recommend Micky and his crew, and we plan to use them for as long as they are in business or until my family and I run out of projects."

Micky and his team are simply superb — every team he brought in did top notch work, including tiles, flooring, plumbing, electrical, countertop, cabinets, glass, stucco, windows, drywall, and more. Micky coordinated everything to perfection, ensuring the project was progressing day to day, sometimes hour by hour. The only “negative” was that we had to work hard to keep up with their impressive pace (in terms of making decisions and ordering needed supplies) and it was well worth it! We are now starting an ADU conversion and we can’t wait for the results."
