"My husband and I live in Ann Arbor and hired Todd at All American Home Builders to complete and addition on our bungalow attic. He helped us get the permits from the city, was on time with starting our project, and was at our home almost everyday (weather permitting) working on our project with his partner Scott. We were happy that they focused on one project at time, so we were consistently seeing progress. Todd offered great suggestions throughout the process after being in the space and seeing our architect's drawings. Some that we took and some we didn't, but was always respectful on our decision and not pushy. We had a serious timeline with a baby due and he finished right on our due date! It was amazing to see it come together so effortlessly by them. The project came in right at the cost with no surprises. The only additional costs were items that we added. Both Todd and Scott are very friendly and hard working. We're super happy we found them and would hire them again if we have a future project. â Melissa & Adam"

"We hired Kris to do a significant amount of renovation to a newly purchased home. He did a great job with the work that his crew performed themselves (the vast majority), and when specialists were needed, recommended companies/people that also did great work. We've got a bit more to do next year, and we'd definitely use him again."

Laminate & Hardwood Flooring, Carpet Sales and Installation, Carpet Install-Materials Not Provided by the Customer
"FANTASTIC group of people........EVERYONE we've had contact with at the Carpet Guys have been exemplary. We bought new carpet from these folks and needed a touch up months and months after the installation. Our call was responded to cheerfully and professionally. An appointment was set at our convenience. The tech arrived on time and (again) cheerfully tended to our needs. Having retired with 45 years in the customer service business I would describe our families interaction with the Carpet Guys as STELLAR! Kudos Guys and Gals!"

HomeAdvisor makes it easy to connect with pros near you. You can read reviews, get quotes and book appointments all in one place.
Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
