"We chose VKB mainly on its reviews on this website. Overall the experience was very positive. We were pleased to learn that VBK did not charge a fee upfront to design the kitchen. Calvin (kitchen designer) made excellent suggestions to improve our original vision and was responsive to changes to the design. Calvin convinced us to choose wood floor and crown molding, and the type of range hood, and he was right on all counts! Because of the smooth design process with Calvin and reasonable price, we decided to sign on with VBK over other companies. The implementation phase had some bumps: the design drawings that Jason (project manager) and Ismar (crew leader) started with were not the updated version, but thankfully that was quickly rectified. In addition there were some misunderstanding on the scope of the painting area, but Calvin agreed to honor what we had discussed verbally, even though it was not spelled out in the contract. Jason listened and patiently explained the project process, and kept asking to make sure that we were happy with the progress. For example, he agreed to redo the placement of the undercabinet lights. He also accommodated our desire to donate our old cabinets to Habitat for Humanity, and Ismar and his crew carefully took the down the cabinets and stored them in our garage for pickup later in the week. Ismar, Luis, and the rest of the crew did a fantastic job installing and painting everything, and their experience showed in disguising the fact that our walls were not straight and the floor was not even. We were also impressed with the laser tools that they used to guide cabinet and light placements. The crew was careful, meticulous, and respectful, and they cleaned up throughly every day. There were other crews handling the flooring and countertops, who also did top notch work, and all were coordinated like clockwork by Jason. Along the way, we learned some lessons and offer the following advice: if you are particular about the placement of your celling lights, electrical outlets and switches, let the crew know, and they will do their best to accommodate. Also, pay attention to every single detail in the contract; if not specified, there can be a misunderstanding, and a deviation may require a change order and extra expense. Overall, we were extremely pleased with the excellent quality of the work, and even though there was a delay in the backsplash order, the job finished as projected. We definitely recommend VKB, and we love our new kitchen. Jason -- we are happy!"

"We were looking into redoing our old deck and got a quote which we thought was reasonable for our large deck. Then for another estimate, we called 7th State Builders. They explained that for the same cost, we could get a paver stone patio (which in the long run is far less maintenance). The owner worked with our budget and the gentlemen who laid our pavers were extremely professional and worked within our wishes. They removed the deck and finished the patio in about a week. Awesome job! After a week or so, it had rain for a period of time and we noticed that a small dip in the patio was collecting a puddle. After a call, they came out and fixed the problem. We would definitely recommend this company for a patio."

"Deck Cetera was only one of the 6 companies that contacted me for me to  get a quote from.  They were professional from the start.  Was quick with writing and emailing the details.  They seemingly had all their 'ducks in a row' for the most part. Once the project was started...I had to stay check on them and ultimately they DID DO WHAT OUR CONTRACT said and I am VERY happy about that. It just took more effort on my part to follow up on things to get to that end result.....more than I would have thought. But they DID go to the effort to make sure I was happy and to  do everything I asked. That is much more than most companies do. IT is a beautiful patio and my tenant is happy that we did that for her. "I would highly recommend EA Roofing and Siding LLC to anyone contemplating a roofing project. Prior to contracting with TJ, the owner of EA, I had spoken with him on various other roofing jobs he was performing throughout our community. On each occasion he took the time to answer my roofing questions with a high degree of knowledge and professionalism. When TJ began work on the second of my two neighbors' homes, I made the decision to work with EA Roofing on my roof replacement project. TJ paid a visit to our home and walked us through the various steps of the project, reviewed various samples/types of roofing shingles and provided us with excellent pricing on the project. In addition, TJ provided references and locations of roofing projects he had completed in the local area in order to assist us in making our final shingle selection. This was key in our selection of the proper color roof shingle as it provided us a means to not only see the shingles on a specific roof but also what the color of the shingles look like at various times of the day. Lastly, all of our questions were answered to allay any fears we had about moving forward with this large project. Our roofing project was completed in a single day with 10 men working on the roof from 7:00 am until nearly 7:00 pm. in the evening. All of the area surrounding my home was covered with tarpaulin. One of the men on the team cleaned up on an ongoing basis throughout the day so that by the time the project was completed in the evening, all debris (old underlayment, shingles, nails, etc.)had been removed from the surrounding area leaving the house in exactly the same state as it was when the project began at 7:00 am. Any and all issues/concerns were immediately addressed by TJ and his team in a punctual and professional manner. We couldn't be more pleased with TJ, EA Roofing, and our new roof!"

"Very well. Robert explained the work they would do and he coordinated tile, plumbing and countertop replacement. We had an early 80's kitchen that needed help but we didn't want a major renovation. They updated our cabinets with new, larger doors, painted the frames, added soft-close hinges, and constructed a new cabinet to replace a built-in desk. New backsplash, granite countertops, and hardware. Their work was a superb value and we're pleased with our new "bright" kitchen!"

"Although we have not moved forward yet to build our screened-in porch, James and his team at DesignBuilders will be the contractor I select when we do.  (Due to an unexpected health concern with a family member, we had to put our plans on hold.)   We want to add a 14? by 16? screened enclosure to our existing deck which is extremely high off of the ground.   While the other two contractors complained about this (one even charged extra for it) James was confident that he could build exactly what I wanted no matter what obstacles our location would present.
I interviewed three contractors for our project.   Their proposals all fell within $2000 of each other.  Yet James was by far the most professional and knowledgeable of the group.  The other two contractors merely pencil-drew their vision of the porch while James and his team provided a computer-aided design (cad cam) of the proposed porch.  When I called to set up the initial appointment, James asked me to first send him a few pictures of my project area, a site survey (plat), and a brief description of what my project entails. 
Jodie, his designer (who is amazing and very personable!) then used this information to set up an online meeting.  For those of you who have never experienced an online meeting, don?t let it intimidate you ? Jodie is so helpful; she will walk you right through it.  Jodie builds a sample design for your project so you can give instant feedback and make necessary design changes right on the spot.  The online meeting is a starting point.  Next is the site visit by James and his team, who, because of the preliminary online meeting, arrive with a good working knowledge of your project.   Unlike your average contractor, James is ahead of the game and can provide you with much more detail about what you can expect when the project is completed. 
Because my roof lines were so complicated, Jodie came to my home to make sure she had all of the information she needed.  Just like James, Jodie is very professional and very easy to talk to.  She immediately put me at ease.  The cad cam designs she prepared gave me a clear picture of the different roof options (gable, shed, flat, etc.).  They also showed how the porch would attach to my house from several points of view.  This gave me a very detailed picture of what the finished project would look like.  All contractors should offer this approach!  It allows you to tweak and modify the design to your exact specifications. 
Next Jodie, James and Edward (another awesome DesignBuilder team member) came to my house and spent more than an hour suggesting a variety of options and some alternative approaches for me to consider - some I would never have thought of. They came up with some excellent solutions to the problems associated with our complicated roofline issue.  We settled on a design that met all of my needs while keeping the project within my budget. 
When James sent me his proposal, I felt very confident that he included pricing for every stage of the project, with no hidden fees or surprises.  James and his team prepared two design options, each with detailed pricing and a cad cam picture of how the finished product would look.  I loved both options, so I have the flexibility to pick the one that best fits my needs when I?m ready to start the project.
James has several videos on YouTube (search ?James Moylan builder?) and at his website http://www.designbuildersmd.com  that show his building process from beginning to end.  These videos will clear up any doubts you might have about the quality of his work or his experience in the field.   His is extremely knowledgeable, his team offers the level of professionalism and comfortable communication that is very hard to find among builders and remodelers, and every person I?ve talked with DesignBuilders has shown a genuine interest in my building project. 
Without a doubt, when we are ready to move forward with our project, DesignBuilders will be the contractor we hire!
