"The work done was very good. We went back and forth over whether to install a vinyl or wood railing, finally settling on wood. I asked them to match what was existing on my porch. The handrail matched well, but the balusters were made from a lower grade wood with visible knots and defects, where the existing was clear pine. The handiwork on the railing was excellent. It is too bad they didn't spend a few more dollars on materials. The painting was good, although they failed to fill in dings and nail holes on my existing porch. Again, how much time does that take to go from a good job to an excellent job? After I wrote the above, someone came out from JTH to apply putty to the defects in the balusters and fill in the holes on the existing porch, then he re-painted. He was most kind about making it right. I pointed out to him that the painters painted around things on the porch that could have been easily removed, meaning some paint got on the door knocker and on the natural brick face of the house. There was also some spillage that I noticed after the job was done. We would not use them again for a painting job; we might consider for carpentry."

"They called me on the same day I placed the request on Angies List and set up an appointment to repair the drywall the very next morning. I included a detailed description of the scope of work, this was all confirmed again over the phone. I needed someone to patch up a hole that was roughly 14-18" in diameter. I let them know I had some of the materials - plaster, tape, board - but they used their own. They gave me the option of also sanding and painting which would have extended the scope of work for additional hours (allowing for drywall to dry before painting the ceiling) . I opted out of that to save a little bit of money since I have other renovation costs, but I am glad they gave me that option. Handyman arrived on time, moved and covered the furniture, and taped a barrier around the work space. He told me he would be finished around 11-11:30am, which was accurate. Overall, very easy to work with, reasonable. I plan to hire them again for a few other similar repairs."

The designers were easy to work with, open to my ideas, and brought great ideas to the table. Drew was our project manager, and we feel like he's the best in the business. He communicates clearly, listens to concerns, keeps the work moving forward, and knows his stuff. Unexpected things will always come up in construction, but how your contractor handles those things, is the real hallmark of a great company. Drew and his guys were amazing at dealing with those things. They made sure I was 1000% happy with the work. They went to bat for us when a supplier was giving us issues, and always went the extra mile to make sure our project would be top notch. Our house is incredible, and we would absolutely go to Marks-Woods again in the future for any projects. Can't recommend them highly enough!"
