"We had a great experience working with Top Bros construction and remodeling. They fully removed our tile and wood flooring and installed LVP that we had provided. They also installed new trim and baseboards throughout, which look great. They were timely and efficient. We are very happy with the outcome!"

"It was great. These guys are not your typical contractor that you have to explain 1000 times what you want, they are experienced professionals and have a very meticilous process of how they bring your dream kitchen to life. Chris was very easy to talk to and he has ideas that would fix any issues you had with your old kitchen. Hope we get to work with them again."

"We had G&G paint our 25 year old oak kitchen cabinets, stairwell railings and oak doors. Our kitchen was completely transformed with hardly any inconvenience or mess. The paint finish is high quality and is very durable. Frank and his team are professional, personable and accommodating. This kitchen refresh was very reasonably priced. I will definitely use G&G for any upcoming projects in my home."

"We did a remodel of our Kitchen and Master bath. The kitchen was a big project, taking out a wall and removing the back door, enlarging our bay to accommodate sliding doors. New countertops, cabinets and an island were installed. Tile was removed from the kitchen/ foyer and replaced with hardwood floors. They gave us a time frame for 4 months. We added on painting, carpet installation. tiling a hallway and new vanity and toilet in the half bath. They accommodated the extra work and completed it in a timely manner, without interruption for other jobs. We could not be more pleased with the work. Everything turned out beautifully. Terry, Jody and Brian were a pleasure to work with. They were reliable, on time and cleaned up daily. Jody is a perfectionist and if something wasn't done right it would be redone to meet his standards. They were helpful with design and handled every add on. They did not ask for money up front and kept cost updated frequently."

"Above and Beyond Construction recently completed an almost whole-house renovation including a family room addition, a fully remodeled kitchen, relocated stairways, three bathrooms, and a finished basement. The addition seamlessly blends with the original spaces, making it feel like a natural extension of my home. The work is detailed and outstanding to the point that visitors do not know where the original 1911 house ends and the 2024 house begins. The highly skilled craftsmen matched the woodwork details of the original house to the new addition perfectly. Chester is easy to work with, has a positive outlook, and a good sense of humor. He will work with you to answer questions, provide suggestions, and address concerns throughout the renovation process. Above and Beyond transformed my little frame house from an outdated, decades-neglected, design and décor calamity left by the prior owners into an elegant space that honors tradition yet transcends centuries."

"We hired Neighborhood Remodelers for our kitchen remodel and our first floor bathroom remodel. Everyone involved in the project was fantastic. Everything flowed smoothly and the workmen themselves were super. Could not have asked for a better result. Looking forward to the remodel of the 2nd floor bath."

"Envy did great job in Remodeling our master bathroom. They were on time working on the project daily. Team is well organized and very responsive to all our questions, modifications or changes during the project. Left the place clean afterwards at end! Price was reasonable as compare to others! I suggest, if one plan to remodel a bathroom, make the design a head of time, purchase items, matching Tiles, pencils and grout based on your taste and design, and then discuss the plan with Envy Project Manager, Scott was great to work with. Thank you for all Envy had done for us to bring our project to full satisfaction. Best, Azza Wagdy"

"Our project turned out beautiful! I want to preface this by saying this was not the first time we used Joe (Anix) for a home project. Two years ago we hired him to update a house our son had purchased. We we so impressed with his work then (I did write a review for that job), that we immediately thought of him when we purchased this downsize house for us. When he came out to see the house, he went room to room with my husband and me to see what we were wanting quotes on. We ended up putting up wainscoting in dining room and hallway, adding crown molding to several rooms on the main floor and changing out base boards. Painting all trim and all rooms on main floor, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and basement. Painting all inside doors. They painted the kitchen cabinets and 2 bathroom cabinets a satin paint. They replaced faucets and lighting in those areas as well. Kitchen and 2 baths had new quartz installed and backsplash in the kitchen. They built a media cabinet (from a picture that I had found) on a full wall for a large TV with custom shelving and cabinets. They updated the fireplace by putting a shiplap wood extending to the ceiling with added crown molding. They replaced the tile surround on the face of the fireplace and on the floor inlay in front. New fanlights in 4 bedrooms and family room. TV wall mounts put in 2 rooms and 1 in basement. Updated all main floor and upstairs recessed lights with new led recessed. Updated all fire detectors to code electrical throughout. Changed outdoor light fixtures on front porch, back porch and garage. Painted front door and installed door knocker. We wanted the oak banister stained and the spindles painted white. Joe mentioned putting in black iron balusters might be more cost effective than trying to paint the oak white. In the meantime, we asked about pulling up the carpet on the stairs and staining them to match the floor -- and, so he did. Lastly, we changed the balusters to nickel instead or the black, and they look amazing! Everything looks better than we could imagined. Originally when we were looking to downsize, my husband was more interested in the homes that were already updated and much more costly. I told him that if we found a house with good layout and in the same neighborhood we wanted to live in, that I'd help him update it to look as good as the other homes that he fell in love with. He is so happy with the work Joe and his group have done for us. We haven't fully moved in yet, but we can't wait to enjoy our new home. Joe is kind, considerate, organized, and he is a gentleman. He cleans up the work area everyday better that I clean my house, and he finds time to answer any emails promptly. His team is the same; they are true professionals. They are helpful in so many ways. We have lived in many cities and we have never come into contact with a construction company like Anix. We plan to use him again for other projects."

FAQs for kitchen remodel projects in Arlington Heights, IL

Your galley kitchen needs adequate clearance around any island installation to maintain functionality. Most galley kitchens lack sufficient width for traditional islands, as these layouts prioritize efficiency in smaller spaces.

If your kitchen has an unusual width, consult with a kitchen designer who can evaluate your specific dimensions and recommend appropriate solutions. For narrower spaces, consider alternatives like rolling carts or narrow work tables that provide additional surface area without permanently restricting movement.

Kitchen remodels require six to 10 weeks for completion, though timelines vary based on project scope and material availability. Simple updates like cabinet refinishing and countertop replacement might finish within a few weeks, while comprehensive renovations involving structural changes often extend beyond two months.

Planning stages add approximately four weeks before construction begins. Maintaining clear communication with your contractor and ordering materials early helps prevent unnecessary delays.

Common errors include insufficient clearance between opposing countertops, inadequate lighting that creates shadowy work areas, and poor storage planning that leaves countertops cluttered. Some homeowners select oversized appliances that overwhelm the space or invest in expensive features that don't address fundamental workflow issues.

Careful planning, accurate measurements, and consultation with experienced professionals help avoid these pitfalls and ensure your renovation successfully addresses your kitchen's specific challenges.

Whether expansion makes sense depends on your home's layout, your budget, and your long-term plans. Combining a galley kitchen with neighboring spaces creates more open, flexible layouts that many buyers prefer. However, removing walls involves substantial costs, particularly if they contain plumbing, electrical systems, or structural elements.

Sometimes, optimizing your existing galley layout through better storage solutions and lighting proves more cost-effective than expansion. Consult with a contractor to evaluate specific costs for your situation.

Effective galley kitchen lighting combines multiple sources to eliminate shadows and create visual spaciousness. Overhead fixtures provide general illumination, while under-cabinet lighting illuminates work surfaces directly. Consider recessed ceiling fixtures that don't protrude into limited headspace.

Lighting with dimming capabilities allows adjustment for different activities. Reflective surfaces like glass tile backsplashes or glossy cabinet finishes help bounce light throughout the space, reducing the corridor effect common in galley layouts.
