At db, Inc., our number one goal is customer satisfaction. We have been remodeling and renovating homes in the North Carolina area for over 28 years. Simply put, we take pride in what we do for you. In today's world, finding trustworthy in a building contractor is not easy. We are known for our honesty, neatness, reliability and most importantly our quality workmanship. Please feel free to read our testimonials. Please contact us today for a free consultation and quote. We serve a 50 mile radius of Asheville. We carry both Workers Comp Insurance and General Liability. We are sorry but we do not work on mobile homes. And we do not do roof repairs.
"Dan just completed a second project at our home because he had done such an amazing job on our kitchen remodel in 2016. This time we did a major renovation impacting all rooms: new windows, skylights, tongue and groove ceilings, new large deck and screened porch, removal of popcorn ceilings, redesign and upgrade of master bathroom and closets, creating studio space in garage, refinishing all wood floors, installing new stairs, and more! There were the predictable supply chain shortages, but the quality of Dan's work made those delays well worth it. Dan's integrity and professionalism made the entire project a positive experience. He takes such pride in his work, he even corrected imperfections that we hadn't noticed. We wholeheartedly recommend him!"

Though I started my company 16 years ago with the idea that customer satisfaction should be #1, I have been in the construction industry for 28 years working in all phases of building. I pride myself in the knowledge that I listen to what the customer wants and am able to give the customer a final product that they are happy with. I'm able to do this because I am on the job doing the actual work or there when my sub-contractors are working. I keep a connection with my customers by letting them know that they can call me any time that I may not be at the job. My goal is to design a project so that it blends in with the house and neighborhood and looks as if it was there from when the house was built. I use sub-contractors for the specialty trades such as electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling, and other trades such as drywall, insulation, block masons, and framing specialist if the jobs are bigger and need more manpower. My company consist of myself and one other employee so to keep that personal touch there. I also work with homeowners who are trying to sell their homes and need small repairs done after the home inspectors have left their list, or to enhance the curb appeal. I also love working with people who have small jobs that need to be done around the house that may be more than they wish to handle. I have also worked with owners who have wanted to build their own homes and do work on it themselves but need guidance in the planning and implementation of such a project.I will do as little or as much as the owner wishes. I do not charge for estimates. If the owner wishes me to design and draw plans fees are charged based upon what the owner wishes for me to do and develope. I will give a homeowner a price based upon what they want and work with them if their wants are over their budgets to get the most for their money. We are especially sensitive to homeowners knowing that they are living in the home when we are doing work and make sure that we use every precaution to keep the jobsite clean and safe for everyone in the family. "Rick and Josh did an incredible job modernizing our North Asheville home. The quality of the work was excellent and they were communicative and transparent. They added an entirely new deck to the lower level of our home and the craftsmanship was top notch. Rick is a true professional and I would absolutely work with him again."

The 30% rule serves as a guideline suggesting that renovation costs should not exceed 30% of your home's current market value. This principle helps prevent over-investing in improvements that the market may not fully reward upon resale.
For example, if your property is valued at $200,000, keeping your renovation budget under $60,000 provides better financial returns. However, this rule should be balanced with your personal goals and how long you plan to remain in the home.
A $50,000 budget can effectively transform several spaces if carefully allocated. This amount covers a moderate kitchen refresh combined with a bathroom update, or several less complex rooms like bedrooms and living areas.
Your geographic location, material choices, and the extent of structural changes significantly impact what this budget can accomplish. Focusing on cosmetic improvements rather than major layout changes helps maximize your investment across multiple spaces.
Labor constitutes the largest expense in multi-room remodels, accounting for 40% to 70% of total costs. Kitchen and bathroom spaces demand the highest investment due to their specialized fixtures, cabinetry requirements, and necessary plumbing work.
Premium materials such as natural stone countertops, hardwood flooring, and custom cabinetry also significantly increase project costs. Strategic budgeting that balances splurges and savings helps manage these high-cost elements effectively.
Most multi-room remodeling projects require three to six months from start to completion, though complex renovations may extend longer. The process follows a necessary sequence of demolition, structural work, mechanical rough-ins, finishing, and final detailing.
Timeline variables include material availability, contractor scheduling, inspection delays, and unexpected conditions discovered during construction. Establishing clear communication with your contractor and making prompt decisions helps maintain momentum throughout the project.
Begin with foundational and structural modifications that affect multiple spaces before progressing to individual rooms. Address "wet" areas like kitchens and bathrooms next, as these involve the most complex work with plumbing and specialized installations. Complete bedrooms and living spaces last to prevent damage to newly finished areas.
This logical progression minimizes redundant work and creates at least one functional living zone throughout the renovation process. Coordinating related work across different spaces also improves efficiency and potentially reduces costs.
