Brad shored it up for the winter with an array of jacks and an enormous chain to ensure the thing wouldn’t fall down till they could return in the spring. Come spring, they fully replaced the damaged section’s support members and facade, and added bracing to the attic, rendering it stronger than before. Foundation support: The sagging beams and jerry-rigged support columns in the dirt basement of our 18th century house were inadequate. They dug and poured a dozen footings and lally columns, supporting a line of new 6x6 and 9x9 beams that provide solid support to the house above. "It went very well. He's a one-man installation machine, but also was able to get my beautiful old wooden windows into operable condition. Prior to that many would not open, and the weights and strings disabled. Total cost of both jobs (done at different times) was reasonable and not as much as many estimates. Our only disappointment was their inexperience working with large insurance claims. By February, our home was severely damage by ice dams. We were never able to enter into a contract to renovate our home and make it ready for sale.
