"Went very well. Due to COVID 19, some suppliers were delayed in delivering required fixtures which delayed project weeks but in terms of Build the Bay, they did demo, fit tub, installed tiling, new shower and fixtures added once completed. It delayed project from 5 weeks to about 7 but not the fault of Build the Bay Inc. Build the Bay Inc. was very competitive in price, recommended some suppliers to shop materials from. Eitan was very good at communicating via phone, text and e-mail and his team was very professional, courteous, on time and did a great job. I am very pleased with the outcome of my remodeled master bath."

"Ovation did a great job installing a new tiled shower in our basement bathroom. They were easy to work with on design and executed exactly what I wanted for a competitive price. However, the project took 2x the estimated time they rarely proactively communicated about timelines or who would be on the job site doing what when."

"Countless mistakes were made in most of the plumbing work done.  I was my own general contractor, and I had to be on top of all the work that was done - particularly the plumbing work, where most of the mistakes were made.  For example: <br /> - the gas line for our fireplace was originally run straight up through our living room floor next to the wall (not in the wall) -- simply ridiculous. <br /> - the drain line under our shower was missing a P-trap <br /> - when the old asbestos covered ducts were removed, lots of asbestos scraps were left lying in the crawl space that I had to clean up <br /> - after the plumbing had been in, we had severe knocking/water hammer (required replacing the pressure regulator) <br /> - after the rough plumbing was installed, the plumber left with the water pressure on - we arrived one hour later to find water spraying all over the unfinished bathroom from a pinhole leak in the joint next to the shower valve.  I had to immediately shut off all water -- they came back and fixed the solder joint where I pointed out the leak -- (but claimed they could not reproduce the leak).  Then, once all of the bathroom/shower was finished - the shower valve dripped when off (likely because the fix to the leak resulted in over-heating and warping the valve) -- they did not take any responsibility and blamed the valve manufacturer (Moen).  And since I bought the valve - they claimed no responsibility.  (Shower still drips today when in the off position). <br /> - the plumber was rude to my wife in front of our inspector <br /> - the plumber was clearly over-worked having to do over-time for a commercial job as well -- so our work was rushed, and as a result there were many mistakes that I had to find (they did fix the issues, one-by-one - I give them credit for that - but overall, the work was sloppy).  <br /> I can understand a few mistakes, but this was simply too many.  In our experience, a more appropriate name for this business would be:  "In and Out and Back Again."  This may have come down to one individual's work -- but unfortunately, it has left a bad impression for the whole company. <br />"

"JPC team did an excellent, professional job on our storm water sump pumps related project. (Two sump pumps were working; they did not need repairs.) 1) Cut and replaced two broken pipes; installed new valves 2) New float sensors installed and set to auto-start the sump pumps 3) long outflow pine, connecting to city&#39;s water drainage system, was cleaned using long snake and high pressure water pump combination. 4) successful final test with water filled in water chamber and sump pumps working 5) JPC gave warranty for work done and signed up for once-a-year annual maintenance visit in October."

FAQs for shower installation and replacement projects in Atherton, CA

Replacing your tub with a shower can modernize your bathroom and improve accessibility, often providing a high return on investment. However, if it's the only bathtub in your home, removing it may decrease resale value, as many buyers look for at least one bathtub. Consider your long-term plans and consult a real estate professional if resale value is a concern.

While showers cost slightly more to install than tubs, the overall expense depends on various factors such as materials, size, and features. A tub installation costs $2,400 to $8,800 on average, whereas showers average $2,000 to $9,400. Custom designs, luxury fixtures, or extensive plumbing work can increase costs for both options. It's important to assess your specific needs and budget when deciding between installing a shower or a tub.

Converting a tub to a shower generally takes between one and three days. The timeline depends on the complexity of the project, materials chosen, and whether plumbing modifications are necessary. Installing a standard prefabricated shower can be completed quickly, while custom tile work or extensive plumbing changes may extend the project's duration. Planning accordingly can help minimize disruptions during the conversion.

Converting a tub to a shower offers several benefits, including saving space and making your bathroom feel more open and modern. Showers improve accessibility, especially for those with mobility challenges, by eliminating the need to step over a high tub wall. Additionally, updating to a stylish shower can enhance your bathroom's aesthetic appeal and may increase your home's resale value if another tub is available elsewhere in the house.

Choosing between a shower stall and a custom shower depends on your budget and preferences. Prefabricated stalls are less expensive and faster to install but offer limited styles. Custom showers allow personalization of size, materials, and features but cost more and require professional installation. Evaluate your needs and budget to select the best option for your space.

If you’re converting a tub to a shower, you may want to consider remodeling your whole bathroom. The ROI on bathroom remodels is high (over 70%), so you can enjoy an upgraded bathroom while you live in your home and get your money back if you decide to sell later. The average cost to remodel a bathroom is around $6,600 to $16,600, so factor in this price range when you’re budgeting for your project.

Converting a tub to a shower alone isn't easy to DIY, so look for a bathroom remodeler near you if you decide to take on a larger bathroom remodel to ensure it's done correctly.
