"The service was excellent! They arrived to pick up the vehicle a day earlier which was great. They delivered the vehicle right to my daughter's door and found a side street to unload. The service was delivered within the time frame given. All of my questions were answered via phone or email and the paperwork was seamless and the price was very reasonable."

"It went fine. Randy the Handyman is very personable and hard working. When he was done, I pointed out that the AC unit hose, which was not part of the job, coming from the house was somewhat frayed. (I don't know why the HVAC company I used two years ago did not address the problem. Oh, well.) He volunteered to come back at a convenient time to fix it. He was very good and I would be happy to use him again.
"

"We purchased our home about 5 weeks ago and during the home inspection I learned that "some improper" roof repairs had been performed. A surprise as the roof had been represented as "recently replaced". I then contacted a roofing specialists (recommended by real-estate agent) to evaluvate the roof and result was the roof appeared to be in good order excepting some caukling that had recently been applied around the roof vents. I was assured it was simply cosmetic and there were no apparent issues to be concerned about.
However, recent rains caused the roof to leak. We did have a problem that needed repaired quickly.
After researching Angie's list I contacted A-1 Construction (Chuck Polley) because they were located nearby and had received good reviews. As it turned out, dealing with Chuck and crew proved to be a great value to me. Despite a busy schedule, Chuck made time to visit me and evaluate the roof. His professionalism and expert knowledge became quickly apparent. After Chuck inspected the roof he stated although it looked good, something was making it leak. He recommended they pull off one of the roof vents to see how it had been installed. We also discussed adding gable vents (my suggestion as the house had only one) to improve attic ventilation and I pointed out a few spots on the siding that needed repaired. I was quoted a price and approved the repair plan.
Chuck scheduled a crew which began work 2 days latter. Sure enough, the roof vents were improperly installed. The shingles and vent flashing were improverly layered and there was no sealer between the vent flashing and roof. One vent was leaking and all of the others had water trapped under them. The crew removed 14 vents and surrounding shingles and reinstalled the vents properly. The shingles were then replaced with new ones. 3 gable vents were installed and the siding was reattached in 2 or 3 areas. The repairs look great and the crew cleaned up all the mess. Repairs took 2 days.
The one thing I want to point out is Chuck's professional habits. He explained everything as the work progressed. His quoted price was held firm despite finding a few other things that needed fixed. The work was completed quickly and properly. All very much noted and appreciated. He's the "Real Deal" and if I sound like I'm related to him, not the case. But, I was treated as if I were!
Rick Dragoo"

"Everything went well. They got our input along the way with details such as whether we wanted to grout the tile and what color. There were special limitations on what tile we could use in our sunroom and they made sure the instruct us on what we needed to get. They were very precise and professional when laying the tile to ensure straight lines. The arch in our kitchen looked better after they were done then before it got damaged by water. The trim around our front door is curved with stucco next to it. We were worried the stucco would get damaged but there were not problems and it looked great. The price was reasonable, the job was done in a timely manner and they cleaned up after themselves. We've already hired them to do additional work and have recommended them to some friends."

"Pros:
Found rotten subfloor in Bath 1 and took tub and built-ins out in order to replace
Installed drywall behind tile in Bath 1 - the surround had been attached to studs
Found some termite damage on one floor joist and reinforced it
Itemized estimates and invoices
Easy to get ahold of
Cons:
Did not successfully repair the LR window (it leaked the very first time it rained) and I had to argue with him to get back only $200 of the $600 charged for the LR work so I could replace the window.
Drywall beneath LR window was poorly done
Took much longer than estimated - many days not on site or only one person working
Additional work to replace Bath 1 subfloor much more expensive than anticipated
Didn't tighten the new Bath 1 bathtub drain enough and it leaked in the basement

"

"Tyler Ladson and his crew from College Works did a great job painting my garage. He was very professional and walked me thru everything. He cleaned up everything and made sure I was completely satisfied. Very good communication!"
