Customers say: True professional

"Jesse was wonderful. He reached out the same day I submitted a request and was able to schedule within the same week. I was feeling very anxious about my asbestos situation that required air filtrating my entire house. He took the time to listen to me and was able to assure me that it would be ok. He seemed very experienced and knowledgeable. His pricing was reasonable and his team was thorough and friendly. I’m beyond grateful for Jesse. "

"Great job! Just had them upgrade a bathroom and help to restore damage to several rooms caused by a leaking toilet. They worked well with our insurance to get it all done. They were fast, respectful and very easy to work with. Everything looks great!"

"This is a strong warning against ever doing business with The Steamery, Inc. in Bryan/College Station or Rob Willis for any cleaning or repairs services at your home or business. The Steamery, Inc in Bryan/College Station . was contracted by my daughter’s apartment complex to clean her vent covers due to mold/mildew forming on them. The resulting chaos of the “criminal acts” of their technician and the aggressive and dismissive nature of the owner/management was something I have NEVER experienced before with ANY service company. My daughter called me late in the evening of 9/1/20 hysterical that someone had broken into her home, but this was not the case. What had happened was that The Steamery, Inc. Technician had gone through her dresser drawers and nightstands. He pulled out several phone cords and left them on the floor, possibly for his personal use. He went through her closets (doors left open) as if he were “casing her place”. He had knocked her couch pillows onto the floor, in addition to several other items off her entertainment cabinet onto the floor as well. My daughter said it literally looked as if someone had ransacked her apartment. The work performed was VERY SUB-PAR and disgusting. It appeared that he did not bring his own equipment or ladder to perform the required task. He attempted to use her broom to knock the mold/mildew off the vent covers. Thus, spreading it all over her floors. He did not even put the broom back. He left it by the front door. When the broom did not work, he climbed up on my daughter’s bed and stood on her comforter and pillows with his dirty shoes in order to remove the vent cover. It literally looked as if they ripped the vent cover right out of the ceiling. While this was going on; he must have been smoking in her apartment and placed a lit cigarette on the edge of her dresser. He must have forgotten about the lit cigarette because it and burnt down and left a burn mark on the top of her dresser. The hot ashes from this lit cigarette then fell on the floor as there were brand new burn marks on the carpet. He then proceeded to go through her kitchen drawers and cabinets to find something to use to clean the vent covers. He ended up using the cleaning brush for her new juicer! He “cleaned” the covers under the kitchen sink faucet, splattering and spreading the water, mold, and mildew all over her backsplash, counters, and floor. You guessed it; he did not even clean the contaminated mess up. To add insult to injury, when I contacted the owner of The Steamery, Inc. in Bryan/College Station to express my disgust and displeasure in the way they performed their services, instead of an understanding and eager to make things right business owner; I was confronted by a very rude and standoffish business owner. Rob Willis was VERY AGGRESSIVE and RUDE. He told me I WAS NOT his customer, that the apartment complex was. He also belittled me by saying that I was “a helicopter mom” to my 19-year-old daughter and that “I should let her handle this”. After getting nowhere with him, I contacted the Apartment Manager. To his MINIMAL credit and at the request of the Apartment Manager, he went to my daughter’s apartment to meet with the Apartment Manager and my daughter to “investigate her claims”. This turned out to be a complete waste of time because he took ZERO responsibility for the actions of his technician. It is sad that a company can make a customer feel as if ransacking their home, damaging their property, and leaving them with the feeling of be violated is okay. The Apartment Manager, however, is doing her best to make things right on their end and we really appreciate that. I would NEVER do business with The Steamery, Inc. in Bryan/College Station or Rob Willis and suggest you think long and hard before you allow anyone from that company into your home or business. I plan on posting this review and pictures everywhere I can and will be alerting the BBB as well."

FAQs for asbestos abatement projects in Austin, TX

Asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring mineral fibers once commonly used in building materials because of their resistance to heat, electricity, and corrosion. However, in 1975, research confirmed that these fibers cause mesothelioma and other cancers, leading to strict usage laws. If your home contains asbestos, removing it can prevent long-term health effects. You'll often find asbestos in the flooring, ceilings, pipes, and roofing of homes built before the 1990s. Common asbestos-containing materials include vermiculite insulation, vinyl flooring, millboard, and corrugated roofing. If you suspect you have asbestos or any of these materials in your home, it's important to hire a reputable abatement company to perform testing.

Currently, there is no federal licensing mandate for asbestos removal contractors. However, certain cities and states require certification and specialized training. For example, in some areas, contractors handling asbestos must receive an Asbestos Handler Certification. Be sure to check your local laws to ensure any contractor you hire meets the necessary requirements.

Homes constructed before the 1990s can conceal asbestos within building materials, and testing provides a definitive answer. You should have your home tested by a certified asbestos inspection service. This professional evaluation identifies hazardous materials and determines whether removal or encapsulation is necessary. Testing safeguards your family’s health and supports smart budgeting for remediation.

Federal law does not require you to disclose the presence of asbestos when selling your home. However, certain states and local jurisdictions impose disclosure regulations that you must follow. Testing and professional remediation confirm that hazardous materials are properly managed. This proactive approach not only meets legal requirements but also protects your property’s value and buyer health.

Asbestos removal affects a home’s resale value because hazardous materials can deter potential buyers. Having toxic substances present lowers buyer confidence and may reduce the property’s value by 1% to 15% if not addressed. Professional remediation ensures safety standards are met and preserves marketability, protecting your long-term investment.

Grants exist at both federal and state levels to support asbestos testing and removal projects. Local housing programs may also offer financial assistance when asbestos is discovered during home repairs. Meeting certification and testing standards is required to secure these funds, which help to manage overall project costs while ensuring safe remediation.
