"I requested my heating ducts be cleaned after the asbestos abatement but that request didnâ t make it to the contractor who did the work. He did not have the equipment he normally would use to perform a cleaning but he did his best. Based on that, I feel I was over charged for the service. But the abatement was done well and quickly."

"Jesse and his team did an amazing job. We had a difficult situation with our house being flooded and finding out our house had asbestos in it. Jesse was very clear with the plan of attack and was patient to answer every question that me and my wife had. Jesse kept prompt and clear communication through the whole process. I would highly recommend going with this company with if you ever have to get your house abated. Cost wise they were more than half of what was quoted to us from serv pro. Give Jesse a call at Cap environmental he will definitely take care of you and your needs."

Small jobs welcome

"I talked to Juan i told him I was getting tile installed in the livingroom, diningroom and kitchen. Turns out there was asbestos tile and adhesive (black as Asbestos adhesive) in the livingroom and dining room. I needed to get the asbestos removal done asap since it was backing up my tile installation and the company required a professional service for removal. Juan did the estimate for me, he did worked with our tight budget during this hard times of COVID-19. Juan said that would be able to get a crew together and tackle the job the same day I called. Julian (crew supervisor) came in and he was very professional and courteous. He inspected everything and said he will be able to get the job done in a few hours since he brought a big crew of guys. All the guys from the crew worked great and presented themselves professionally. The job got done in less than 3 hours, what a life savers these guys are. Would definitely call them back for 2 other rooms I need to get done and for my outside siding."

"Arrived on time and was very quick and efficient in removing the asbestos in the timeframe given. Initially only had him abate our attic but had him return to abate our entire living room, hallway, ceilings and some areas in 2 bedrooms. I highly highly recommend Otis and I am continually giving out referrals not only for asbestos but also for renovations. He’s honest, has a great work ethic, very reasonable in cost and goes out of his way to make you happy."

"John R provided services at my home which was flooded by Hurricane Harvey. I am so grateful to have been fortunate to be assigned to John. Incredibly outstanding. John is the most knowledgeable, professional, thorough, efficient expert that I have ever encountered. His skill level is extremely high; he knew exactly what needed to be done immediately. There is no way to fully describe his level of expertise in words. Priceless - I am very pleased, assured and confident about the excellent service I experienced. Far exceeded my expectations which were high. Look no further if you need help and want the best there is!"

FAQs for asbestos abatement projects in Houston, TX

Asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring mineral fibers once commonly used in building materials because of their resistance to heat, electricity, and corrosion. However, in 1975, research confirmed that these fibers cause mesothelioma and other cancers, leading to strict usage laws. If your home contains asbestos, removing it can prevent long-term health effects. You'll often find asbestos in the flooring, ceilings, pipes, and roofing of homes built before the 1990s. Common asbestos-containing materials include vermiculite insulation, vinyl flooring, millboard, and corrugated roofing. If you suspect you have asbestos or any of these materials in your home, it's important to hire a reputable abatement company to perform testing.

Currently, there is no federal licensing mandate for asbestos removal contractors. However, certain cities and states require certification and specialized training. For example, in some areas, contractors handling asbestos must receive an Asbestos Handler Certification. Be sure to check your local laws to ensure any contractor you hire meets the necessary requirements.

Homes constructed before the 1990s can conceal asbestos within building materials, and testing provides a definitive answer. You should have your home tested by a certified asbestos inspection service. This professional evaluation identifies hazardous materials and determines whether removal or encapsulation is necessary. Testing safeguards your family’s health and supports smart budgeting for remediation.

Federal law does not require you to disclose the presence of asbestos when selling your home. However, certain states and local jurisdictions impose disclosure regulations that you must follow. Testing and professional remediation confirm that hazardous materials are properly managed. This proactive approach not only meets legal requirements but also protects your property’s value and buyer health.

Asbestos removal affects a home’s resale value because hazardous materials can deter potential buyers. Having toxic substances present lowers buyer confidence and may reduce the property’s value by 1% to 15% if not addressed. Professional remediation ensures safety standards are met and preserves marketability, protecting your long-term investment.

Grants exist at both federal and state levels to support asbestos testing and removal projects. Local housing programs may also offer financial assistance when asbestos is discovered during home repairs. Meeting certification and testing standards is required to secure these funds, which help to manage overall project costs while ensuring safe remediation.
