"Carl's team was phenomenal. They quoted me a fair price, and showed up right on time. They were able to build us a pergola exactly as we discussed on time and on-budget. The pergola is beautiful and feels like a permanent feature for our house. I would highly recommend Sheds and More for your pergola needs!"

"Came in as lowest bid and wound up doing fantastic work. Very satisfied with how the project turned out. Working with them regarding billing and what was considered in and out of scope was a nightmare. Despite my best efforts to make sure we were on the same page in regards to what I wanted done and making sure it was on the invoice it did not stop the invoices for extra work coming out saying it was out of scope. I agreed with the first change order regarding a bench but when more change orders and invoices started showing up with no heads up is when I started asking questions. And even when I said that I told them to give me a heads up on out of scope work, I still got new invoices for out of scope work. $1200 for extra hours for sloping the shower pan, $200 for extra trash removal, $600 for extra plumbing work. TLDR: Lowest Bid, Still great work, but expect them to nickel and dime you until it is done."

Customers say: Quick response

"We had to redo our driveway, remove excess concrete and add curbs (thanks, City of Austin). Tam and the whole Platinum Construction team was incredibly friendly and responsive, which is rare in our contracting experience. They did a fabulous job and I would 100% hire them again."

"Erick was great working with us on the design and was very patient with our indecision. Excellent he was focused on the functional use of space. Everything turned out beautiful. Erick did a great job on the construction and installation. He was receptive to any concerns we had. We liked his attention to detail being perfectionists every step of the way."

"As a first time home owner, I was nervous about getting my house painted and didn't know how to find professionals to do a great job. We were SO lucky to find Jet and Julie! They helped us with color consultation and went above and beyond to help us find the right colors for our house (which ended up looking perfect!). They are extremely easy to work with, very friendly, communicate well, and are experts at what they do. They're not just skilled painters- they will help you with any other household tasks! They helped us clean vents, change the air filter, fix imperfections, and even found some mistakes with the build that were causing us issues. Jet and Julie are now our go to people whenever we have a question or problem with the house. They moved and replaced all our heavy furniture, electrical, etc., and were very diligent and careful with their work. They even befriended our two dogs who absolutely adore them! We cannot say enough good things. Thank you Jet and Julie for everything!"

FAQs for shed, barn or playhouse building service projects in Austin, TX

Most sheds larger than six feet by eight feet require a foundation to remain level and dry. A compact tool shed might get by without one, but anything heavier should sit on at least a 4-inch-thick stone-and-gravel pad that extends two feet past the walls. The gravel protects wood skids and promotes drainage. If you want maximum stability—and your budget allows—a poured concrete slab is the strongest option.

Your ideal shed size hinges on purpose. A common 10-by-12-foot kit gives you 120 square feet—plenty for lawn tools and bikes. Need just a spot for a mower and a few rakes? A compact 4-by-7-foot model should work. If you’re envisioning a workshop or hobby room, look at 12-by-16 feet or larger.

A good rule is to raise the shed floor four to six inches above the surrounding soil. That clearance encourages water to drain away instead of pooling beneath the structure. The simple step is especially important for wood floors and skids, helping deter rot, mold, and insect damage while extending the life of your new outbuilding.

Choose the route that fits your goals. Prefab sheds arrive in standard layouts and go up fast—perfect for basic storage on a tight timeline. Custom builds cost more and take longer, but let you add windows, wiring, plumbing, and unique finishes. Balance budget, features, and timeframe before deciding which type of shed is best for your needs.
