"Justin and his team did an excellent job. He listened to what I had in mind and the result is exactly what I wanted. He had to drill into the brick on the side of the house to affix the steel wire so this was not a job I could have done myself. Everything looks neat and the lights are hung securely. He also installed a dimmer switch and cover for the electrical outlet (at my request). He had to come back a second day as the concrete wasn't curing fast enough. He wanted to ensure it would hold the lights. I also asked him to install a light in my mudroom while he was here, and take a look at a broken heat lamp on my deck. Some contractors don't like to be bothered with the smaller jobs - not Justin. He will tackle it all. Super professional and does great work."

"Manny was great! Hanged, taped, mudded, and sanded roughly 8.5' X 8' wall that I framed... had 'my studs' not been slightly twisted, bowed and warped the wall would be 100% perfect. Manny's work was excellent and the wall is smooth no divots or gaps. I provided the drywall and corner bead. Will definitely hire Manny again!"

"I have worked with Mason and his excellent crew on several projects…a basement dig-out renovation, a kitchen renovation, brick repointing, four bathroom gut/renos, and a living room/dining room gut and renovation. Obviously, I value his thoughtful cogent input, his excellent crew of various superb artisans, and his "brace and suspenders” thoroughness, or I would not have come back to work with him so many times! He is instantly available and totally reliable. The results of the work speak for themselves… these rooms are perfect and perfectly put together. I would not consider working with any other company. His excellence has spoiled me:)"

"Outstanding. Luis provided cell-phone photos of cleaned gutters, removed and remounted gutter screens. Thorough post-work clean-up, coiled and stowed hoses (used my hoses to flush downspouts). Thoroughly explained job done. Explained source and nature of dirt in gutters (on main building, from tar-paper shingles, on shed from leaves. Trimmed tree overhanging shed, without being asked."

"Tony and EA roofing are great! I needed to have my roof replaced due to hail damage. Tony helped to facilitate the entire process for me and made everything as easy as can be. Their guys put on a great new roof using landmark pro materials. They were in and out in 1 day, cleaned everything up and left us with a beautiful new roof. I highly recommend EA roofing. Thanks Tony!"

FAQs for shed, barn or playhouse building service projects in Washington, DC

Barndominiums cost $50 to $200 per square foot (or $65 to $160 per square foot for finished living areas). You’ll pay even more for a larger barn house. This project costs more than the typical barn construction because you’ll need elements like a kitchen, bathroom, and finished living spaces. Building a barn house is comparable to building an actual home.

A high-quality barn lasts 40 to 60 years when built with robust materials and maintained with dedicated care. Quality construction practices and a strict maintenance schedule ensure that key structural components, such as support posts and roofing, remain effective for more than 60 years. This long lifespan offers homeowners sustained functionality and reliability over time.

The project type determines the construction timeline for a barn. A standard pole barn finishes in six weeks, a traditionally framed or steel-framed barn concludes in four months or more, and a barndominium takes six months or longer due to the extensive design, electrical, plumbing, and finishing details. This schedule ensures each phase is completed efficiently by qualified professionals.

When planning to construct your barn, it's important to review local building codes and zoning regulations. These regulations may include guidelines on building height, property boundaries (setbacks), lot coverage, and easements. Understanding and complying with these requirements helps ensure your barn is built safely and legally and avoids any permitting delays.
