"Great, we started the project during a recent Home Show. Evan came the house and submitted to us a proposal. We set up an appointment for them to install the floor on April 6th. We received a message early the week before telling us that the crew would be there at 7 AM. They were there on time. Took them about four hours to remove the old floor cover, diamond grind the existing concrete, install the base coat and vinyl chips which gave the floor it's texture. <br /> They left for about three hours while the base coat dried. When they returned the covered the vinyl chips with the Polyaspartic covering. They told us to let this dry for about three hours and left about 6 PM <br /> The next morning, right at 7 AM, they returned to reinstalled all the closet doors, and move the washer and dryer back into place. This took about two hours. <br /> The floor looks wonderful and probably will outlive the house <br />"

"We called Mr. Gill for an estimate and were pleased with both the estimate and the ideas he had for our sidewalk.  It was not the easiest area due  to grade problems around house.  He recommended a small retaining wall to prevent water from running towards house.  He had some difficulty fitting us in between other jobs and weather issues but when they did get to us, it went fast.  They were very professional.  One day they came and leveled areas and set forms for pouring concrete.  Next day they were here and began pouring.  They took every precaution to not damage our existing lawn and road.  They covered the concrete to protect against cold. Mr. Gill came by and checked on it the next few days and then his crew arrived to remove all covers and finish cleanup.  The results were wonderful.  I waited to write this review so I could better tell you how the sidewalk has weathered the winter.  It was an exceptionally cold winter.  The melting snow never pooled against house but ran off towards lawn. Shovel snow was easy. Rain just washes away and does not pool either. It was sloped perfectly. Mr. Gill also came back later and checked on the pour to see that is was ok. Now it is April and the sidewalk is beautiful.  It has added to the comfort of getting around our yard and is  going to be a great asset to our home's value.  We now have an 8' wide sidewalk that will allow us to move around easily and to barbeque, etc. I would highly recommend Mr. Gill and his crew and would use them again in any future jobs we might have. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Baker City, OR

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
