The crew jackhammered a trench along the wall in my basement and installed a drainage pipe, fill and a sump pump. They cemented over the trench and it looks like they were never here. He asked me to send a picture of the water heater control and talked me through the process staying on the phone until my problem was resolved. Pilot was just slow to ignite. "The company replied quickly and gave an estimate as requested. We were quoted for 2 new shut offs and 3-5 replacement shut offs. The plumber only brought 5 fittings, but he gave me the option to run to Home Depot to get more... I was also instructed to replace a hose which wasn?t leaking until after the repair, but it was easily fixed when I suggested to connect the new hose to the pipe rather than to the leaking hose. Sharkbite valves were installed. If I knew they were going to be used, I would have done the work myself. The plumber was proficient with the Sharkbites, I just expected that a pro plumbing company would solder. When the plumber left, there were no leaks, and I didn?t feel like making an issue of the other 2 valves which I wanted installed."

"(UPDATED REVIEW)Another company referred me to Zoom Drain when I had a sudden backup into the basement. It was an emergency and the Zoom team arrived quickly. It was clear that there was a blockage (wipes — don't flush them!!!) and that the house drain and curb trap were dislocated and would have to be dug up and replaced. For the immediate problem -- unblocking the drain temporarily so the house could be inhabited -- they offered a choice of the cheaper snaking and the more expensive hydrojet treatment, which they said would leave the pipe clean. Of course I took that. It didn't clear the drain and they didn't try the snake, saying that it wouldn't fit through from inside. I paid $563 for this failed job, figuring that the clog was impossible to clear. They said the $563 could be applied to the cost of digging up and rebuilding the drain and trap, and gave me an estimate for $13,000 emergency service (or $10,000 if I could wait until the next week). Thinking it could be worth another try, I called a local plumber, Goodman. They snaked it from the inside and unblocked the clog. They said it didn't make sense to jet first in my situation and explained why you would snake first and then escalate. They charged me $165, and also gave me an estimate for the repair job that was less than half of Zoom's. Though I didn't end up using them, it was at least in line with what I now know is the normal price. The application of the $563 to a $10,000 bill would still have been around $6000 too high! Now, I want to mention that the Zoom workers seemed very nice. Maybe they're just following instructions from the company. I just don't appreciate the practices of a business that seems to take advantage of the customer's desperation in an unfamiliar situation to upcharge them and overcharge them, at least judging by my experience. UPDATE: Zoom Drain has apologized for my experience and refunded me the full charge. I have adjusted the letter grades accordingly."

"From the estimate process until final product finished today, we could not be happier with BQ Initially was quoted a 2 day process to complete our Aquastop waterproofing system and sump pump replacement, Steve, Curtis, Pedro, and Josh arrived as promised at 7:30 and completed the job by 1:30. They explained the entire process and updated us throughout. They were very professional, efficient, and polite. "Valdel provided an appointment time say day. Tim arrived on time and called when he was within 30 minutes of the house. He was extremely courteous and professional. He assessed the existing sump pump and explained that it was not of great quality (contractor grade) and recommended replacing over repairing as there was no guarantee that it could be repaired. He replaced the sump pump on the same visit and then showed me all of its features and how to troubleshoot if there were any problems in the future. He cleaned the work area after he was finished and always covered his boots when walking through the house to get to the basement. The pump was operating well and flushing water out regularly and shutting off as it should. However, we noticed a thud sound each time the pump flushed water out that we had never heard before. I called Valdel back and explained the concern the next day and Tim return promptly to address the concern. He determined that it was the back flow valve that was causing the thud sound and replaced that valve with a new, and better valve at no cost to me, that closed more softly and quietly each time the pump flushed the water out. The pump has now been running perfectly for over a week and is silent. I was so impressed with Valdel's responsiveness and communication and with Tim's punctuality, professionalism, problem solving, and communication. In the end, everything is working as it should and the process from start to finish was very positive. We would definitely hire them again and would recommend them to our friends. Thanks Anne"
