"It went great! It was a 2 year process... I paid a little extra for them to dig a bit deeper and install extra gravel because I park a full size van in my driveway. My original driveway was from the builder of the house (1965?) and ruts had developed where the wheels rested. They were friendly and professional, they even went the extra mile and did more than originally planned on. I would definitely recommend them."

"Estimate for the job was very reasonable so I had some concern that the asphalt layer would be thin. Not only was it not thin but the edges were perfectly aligned to my walkways and carefully butted to garage floor. The paving was rolled several times with a paving roller and the edges beveled to ground level. They started when they said they would (on a Saturday so they would not be interrupted by other calls) and finished promptly. Cleaned up completely, nothing, not even a cigarette butt left behind."

"The price I paid for Angie's List paid off right away when I read the reviews on J & S Paving Co.  The owner Rich Wirth repaired our 40 year old black top driveway.  He spent almost two days in preparation for the top coat of black top.  He dug out bad spots put in a section of binder deep down where it was needed.  Then he patched all the low spots and brought them up to grade before he applied the final coat of black top. His crew was courteous and worked very hard the whole time.  He answered all my concerns and went out of his to do more then he had to.  His motto of "I treat your driveway as if it was mind is," is true.  I really felt I got my money's worth form this company.  If you are looking for residential paving work, you would be wise to get an estimate and talk to Rich about your job.  <br />"

"The company offered to seal my driveway for free due to a miscommunication about the original job. After talking with the owner, who explained why the paving was done the way it was, I gave my apologies for the "C" rating last year. I am very happy with the work that was done and I highly recommend Lighting to everyone! Thank you for taking the time to make things right with me and you now have a lifelong customer!"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Baldwinsville, NY

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
