"This was easily one of our BEST experiences with a contractor ever. Over the past five years, we have done numerous renovations on our home, and Gasparini's stands at the top of our list for satisfaction. Their work was beautiful, and they were always punctual and professional. For example, they took care to cover our lawn with mats so as not to tear it up while bringing their equipment out back. In addition, the following spring, when a few of the grasses didn't come back, they returned and replaced these...no questions asked. We have, and will contnue to, recommend this company to others.
"

"These gentlemen came in, took out the old black top driveway and hauled it all away. They installed my new concrete driveway and made it a little wider as agreed. They also added borders around it which gives it a nicer look. When they were done with the driveway they also did the resealing of the stamped concrete that I already had installed a few years before. The stamped pads were very faded and no longer looked like it should. The guy's to my surprise, brought it back to it's original look. So much so that a delivery man came to my home the next day and wouldn't walk on the sidewalk because he thought it was wet. He and I spoke and he said he'd "never seen a nicer sidewalk or driveway job".
When they finished the job's they cleaned up around the whole property to include power washing the street to clean off all the mess from the concrete truck. My neighbors all commented about the nice work they had done, and were equally impressed with the clean up on top of the work.
I would also like to add that the owner was on the job with his people working right along with them. You could tell it was because they all worked very well together not because he has to watch over them. I am not trusting of trade people but I watched these guy's and they showed the were hard workers that have a lot of pride in what they do. They are truly professionals and they were very respectful.
I've had nothing but complements on there work since the job has been completed.
"

"I was concerned about one of the shrubs and asked to have someone stop by and take a look. Within a week I received an email with information about what was wrong and what to do about it. I have changed my overall rating to a B.

They were delayed in getting me the plan, and they pushed back my work due to a last minute change in their schedule. Therefore the planting ended up being much later than I had hoped and I was worried about it being too late in the fall for planting. The owner did agree to my request to extend the warranty from 1 year to 1.5 years which I thought was fair.
They arrived on time and were very professional. They added stepping stones at the last minute which was great. I was a little disappointed in that they did not test the soil nor plan on rottotilling the planting bed but agreed to do so when I requested (of course for an additional charge). They also did some extra work I requested when they arrived on site.
The trouble started this spring. I noticed the 3 matching shrubs in front were not planted equal distant apart. I sent a photo and the response was and quot; it is hard to tell from the photo, it looks more like one shrub is just not as full toward the center. The shrub hasn’t been in the ground for very long so I don’t think there would be a problem moving it, but it would negate your warranty, as we do not warranty transplants. I can move it, but if I do I would rather set up a time when you are home so you can tell me where you would like the shrub so it isn’t being moved more than once. It would be around $75 to move the shrub.and quot;

I measured and marked the middle of all shrubs with stakes and sent another photo. The one plant is 7and quot; closer to the center shrub than the other and they are under a picture window with smaller windows on either side, so it looks very obvious. I stated I didn't feel I should have to pay for the one shrub to be corrected and I never heard back. I want the shrub moved before it gets bigger and the discrepency more obvious but don't want to risk negating my warranty.
I hired professionals because I didn't think I'd have to worry about where and how the shrubs were placed.
In addition all paperwork, correspondence and bills referred to the 3 shrubs as Summersweet and quot;Summer Beautyand quot; not Summersweet and quot;September Beautyand quot;. I found this very confusing as I couldn't find any information on the internet about the and quot;Summer Beautyand quot; which is not surprising since there is no such variety. That's why I rated professionalism a C.
Responsiveness was good however I didn't like the response.
I really don't know how to rate the quality of the shrubs yet, it will depend on how everything goes in the next couple of years.

"

"Mike is fabulous! He came in and fixed our gabion baskets which were threatening to tumble down. He knew exactly what he was doing and did the work properly. No shortcuts! We also had areas of poor drainage which were always soggy. He fixed those. Replaced rotting railroad ties with landscape stone and rocks for out driveway and landscaping. Everything looks spectacular. Mike went out of his way to not damage the lawn and landscaping with his big equipment. He left the site looking better than it ever has. I don't believe I have ever met a person, let alone contractor, that I trust more than Mike! If he says he and his crew can do something -- trust that he will do it right and you will love the results!"

"We were pretty happy with Hadleys in the early days, and that changed as the company got bigger. I didn't come to Angie's list today to leave a review on Hadleys, but based on our address Angie's list solicited a review, and I have used the company, so I thought I would provide my thoughts.
Hadley's moved their office into our neighborhood several years ago. We contracted them to cut our grass and initially they did a great job and at a great price. A year or so into our relationship they increased their mowing cost by 15%, and although I wasn't happy, I decided to continue on with them. Then last year they increased their rates by another 67%. Their new mowing rate was effectively double what we started at with them. They did a good job cutting the grass, but it wasn't worth the huge premium they were charging, so we ultimately dropped them and went with a competitor. Overall I would give the quality of their mowing an and quot;Aand quot; and their rates a and quot;Cand quot;.
A few years ago we contracted Hadleys to plant 10 trees in our yard. They drew up a plan and we agreed on a price. When I came home that afternoon, half of the trees had been planted - but in the wrong spot. They were in the correct general area, but the workers definitely did not follow the plans that were drawn up. They apologized, and I agreed to keep the 5 trees where they were, and they placed the remaining 5 trees correctly.
My biggest issue with that project was the trees themselves. 3-4 of them were and quot;bentand quot; and growing at an angle. I complained and Mr. Hadley came out to the house to look at the trees, and he said that it was natural, because they grow the trees on a side of a hill to save space, and that once they are planted in our yard the trees will eventually and quot;straighten outand quot;. Here we are a few years later, and while some of the trees have moved closer to being straight, the trunks on some of them are still bent. For the planting services I would give them a and quot;Cand quot;, with the quality being a and quot;Dand quot;.
Our last encounter with Hadleys was the and quot;master planand quot;. We spent about an hour in the office with the owner and he showed us all of these various ideas he had that could be used in our yard. He said that he was going to draw up an elaborate and quot;master planand quot; that we could implement in phases over the next few years. He had us very excited in his office for the work they could do, and then we never heard from them again. No and quot;master planand quot; was ever presented.
Although these strikes were enough for us to take our mowing/planting/and landscaping business needs to competitors, we were happy with their mowing service, and their lawn treatment service, and we have seen photos of large jobs they have done that have gone quite well. Perhaps we were too small of a customer to get better service. If you have a very large job, you may want to give them a try and learn more for yourself.

"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Baldwinsville, NY

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
