"This was our second time using Jim's services (within about a month's span) and we continued to be impressed. We had no idea that our brand new stove needed a different kind of outlet than we had available from the old appliance, so we called Jim for help and to our surprise he was available the very next morning to come and save the day. Our new stove is now working beautifully and it was all thanks to Jim's fast and professional help. Pricing was fair as always!"

"We struggled for a long time with the idea that we had to update the electrical panel and who to call. Service Professor came out and put everything together in writing. We had a couple other small companies come out to but never really heard anything back. So happy to have this big project done!! Nate and his crew were amazing! I will definitely keep them in mind when doing any further work! Thank you all!"

"Jarod did an excellent job. Completed an EV outlet install in a few hours. He came out to do an estimate and had all the supplies he needed in his truck and hired him on the spot. Fair pricing and very neat a clean work. EV outlet works like a charm. Will definitely hire him to do future work at my house."

"I recently hired AAB Electric for some electrical work, and I am extremely pleased with the results. They installed recessed lights and ceiling fans in my home, and the entire process went smoothly. The team was timely, arriving right on schedule, and very friendly, making the experience even better. The installation was done to my complete satisfaction, and everything looks and works perfectly. I will definitely be using their services again in the future and highly recommend them for any electrical work."

"If you want a company that does it right, this is the one. He corrected everything that was wrong so that when I’m ready to sell I know I will be at code. He has installed fans and lights, put in a wireless fire and carbon dioxide system, added a 120 plug for my kiln, and re-wired and updated grounding plugs and added new lighting to my garage. He is well versed in current codes, explains everything in layman’s terms, and checks his work more than once so you never have to call him back. He also can clean up old wires so you don’t have unnecessary wires in the way. I’ve worked with him for several years and I won’t call any one else!"

"These guys did a fantastic job: they were organized and punctual, offered a great product, and provided education on how to use the generator. They even installed an extra conduit without my requesting that they do so in case in the future additional wiring might be required under the driveway, Nick is a real professional and Amber in the office keeps the ship sailing!!"

"We have a second home built in the 30's that had a dirt crawl with very limited access to the water pipes, electric etc. Jason met us and went over options to dig out the crawl to gain better access and seal the outer foundation walls with spray foam insulation, adding a perimeter drain tile and sump pump. We ultimately moved forward with the project. Their crew was able to dig out more than we expected which allowed us to pour concrete so we can actually use the space for storage now. The project went as planned, on time and at the amount that we were quoted. We now have easy access to the entire cawlspace, it is dry and no more crawl odors in house. Glad we did it."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Bangor, MI

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
