"The project was small. I needed two small set of concrete steps removed and replaced. They took the time to understand the situation and recommend a solution. The work was done professionally in a timely manner. The company kept me updated with the progress and next steps to be taken to complete the project."

"After finding Tillerman Gardens online and requesting an estimate for substantial hardscape/landscape work on our newly renovated house, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that Jesse, the owner, actually grew up in our neighborhood! On top of being a Takoma Park local, and an all around friendly, honest, business owner, we also came to learn that he does great work as well! His team completely transformed our hardscape areas, including installing a beautiful flagstone walkway and patio, a perfectly graded cement driveway, iron railings on our steps, and plants in a number of locations. On top of that, some of the work required some touch up and sealing and Jesse and his team have come out a couple of times later this spring to do that work unprompted. There's a little bit left, but I know they'll be around to finish it as they've taken care of us every step of the way. Even better, everything was done in budget. Look no further! These are your go to guys for all landscape/hardscape work in the area!"

"The work was done well overall, but I had to remove some large concrete pieces from the sloping areas around the edges. The original diggers had buried these close to the surface, which would have made landscaping impossible. This was not Jerry's fault, as they did not follow his instructions to break these up, and add them to the substrate rock under the patio base. There were delays due to the very bad weather, out of his control, but the re-scheduling needs could have been communicated better, in my opinion."

I met with Ari in mid August to go over the work that needed to be done. I traveled from 100 miles away and met Ari at the house.  He arrived when he said he would which is a behavior that's very important to me. I reviewed the work that needed to be done. During the course of our conversation I found them to be very professional, professional and extremely knowledgeable. The next day I had an estimate, I reviewed his estimate with others that I have gotten with my sister-in-law and we agreed that the work that airy propose to do was much more to our liking. We scheduled a start time and date with Ari, he arrived on that day at that time and his company did an outstanding job of repairing the severely damaged wall, steps and dain leading to the basement door. He ensured that the connection to the sump was more than adequate to handle the drainage and he also repaired the drainage from the downspout on that side of the house.

I had a chance shortly after completion to view the work done by Ari Concrete Construction. I found the work to be outstanding and even better than I had envisioned. I would highly recommend that if you have concrete work to be done do not hesitate to contact Ari Concrete Construction I know I will.  My sister-in-law now has peace of mind knowing that her basement will no longer flood and the work that was done was of value add to her home.

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Barnesville, MD

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
