We actually called (intending to leave a message) on a Sunday, but the phone was answered by Tim Alexander, the owner. We made an appointment for him to come to the house on Monday morning. He and his son arrived promptly and checked our place carefully, completed a detailed estimate with a firm price quote on the spot, and came back and installed everything on Tuesday morning. <br /> <br /> Installation itself took almost the entire day. Throughout it, the Alexanders were pleasant, courteous, considerate, patient, professional, and unbelievably neat and clean. The explained, clearly and in easy-to-understand terms, how the system and each of its components worked. They answered the many questions we had, and always asked us what our preferences were for placement of the various detectors, panels and switchboxes. If they had to move anything to get access to a wall or electrical circuit, they replaced whatever they moved exactly in its original location. And they swept and vacuumed up all the sawdust and stripped wires. <br /> <br /> After the installation was complete, Tim set up the access codes that we requested, and gave us a tutorial on how to operate the system or change the setup. The Alexanders also provided us with all necessary paperwork, including forms to send to our home insurance company (discount on homeowner's policy) and the State Police (state requirement to register the alarm system). <br /> <br /> Stressful circumstances surrounded our decision to get an alarm system, but everything else about it was totally non-stressful, even reassuring. HSS is a family-owned, family-operated local business, and the monitoring company that HSS uses is also family-owned, family-operated, and Vermont-based. Using small, local businesses is important to us, as was the fact that several of our neighbors have been happily using HSS for more than two decades. All in all, we couldn't have been happier."
