"The overall install went well except for a small flaw. The small hole drilled in the PVC pipe splashes wtr out of the sump when pmp is activated. I now have to try to cover a portion of the sump to eliminate the issue."

"We had an excellent experience with Windy City Rooter. Max (the owner) and his son came to my house to diagnose the problem and give a free estimate. Unlike with other "big name" companies, I felt comfortable with their diagnosis. Windy City Rooter sends actual licensed plumbers to your house and not uneducated salesmen guessing what the problem is and trying to sell you expensive sump pumps or experimental fixes. Although the diagnosis was not good (we had a blocked overhead sewer with a leak in our basement), Max was huge help in making the ordeal as painless as possible. He explained the entire process of replacing our sewer, including city construction codes, digging, replacing pipe, sealing walls, and clean up. Windy City Rooter does all their own work, they don't contract out anyone else (one of Max's sons is in charge of the excavating). Therefore they know everything that is going to get done, how much it will cost, and how long it will take. They dug up the sewer, replaced it, sealed our walls, and cleaned up all in one day as I was at work. Max was phone call or text away, keeping me updated on the entire process. In addition he also helped by talking directly to our insurance adjuster to ensure we could get some money for the damages. Windy City Rooter is a highly experienced family run business and it is obvious that their goal is to make the customer happy. I will use them for all my future plumbing needs."

"Chris at All Star provided a very simple proposal, and followed up by phone to review it and discuss options. We chose All Star because their proposal was an excellent value. Most roofers provide comparable materials, so for us it boiled down to some of the options provided. All Star provided Owens Corning Duration shingles, replaced several existing 'turtle' vents with a single ridge vent, and installed a gutter guard system on the main house. Chris recommended a patch & re-coat of the existing flat garage roof, using fibered Alumicoat (silvercoat), and included a 5-year warranty on that work. This saved us $4k versus other proposals we received recommending a complete tear-off and replacement. Best of all, the crew arrived early on a Wednesday morning, and were finished with the main house by the end of the same day. Clean up was also very good - we haven't found any old nails since the job was finished. We'd definitely use All Star again!"

I initially had a poor interaction with Mike that did not result in solving the above plumbing problem above. However, he has since connected with me and resolved the issue fairly.  He did an excellent job the first time I hired him (successfully unclogging a tub drain). Even though the second time we hired him was not successful (and we had to hire a second plumber to resolve the problem) we will use him in the future because he reached out to resolve our concerns in a professional manner.

"This was a perfect repair experience. We recently bought a home that had two "floating decks"---no concrete footings and not attached to the house. The decks were sloping toward the foundation of the house and posing a potential seepage problem. On the smaller deck, Brian and his hard-working crew installed six 42" deep concrete piers and leveled the deck. He also installed two sturdier headers, eight new deck boards and a new step. The crew was professional, friendly, highly skilled, and cleaned up the work area at the end of each work day. Brian's communication with us was excellent. He almost always answered his phone before it went to voice mail, or he returned calls quickly. He is extremely knowledgeable and skilled in a number of home repair areas. We are already talking with him about repairing or replacing the other deck next spring. We highly recommend TNT Builders!

"I would recommend House of Granite And Marble. The job went very well. They were punctual. They came out and did accurate measurements. If they had any questions, they called. They were very communicative which I really appreciate. They stuck to their price. There was one little thing which they had recommended that would make it look better aesthetically. We were more than happy to talk about that and then gave us their price for that adjustment. Nothing was confusing about it. Everything was very clear. They did exactly what they promised, and the installation was fantastic. Their professionalism, service, and clean up were impeccable."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Bassett, WI

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
