"Matt did a fantastic job. Chang d a circuit breaker which did not completely fix the problem. Then came back later at night and stated to work through a complex broken in-wall wire problem and fixed it. His rate was very modest and I would super highly recommend him."

"I paid an excessive amount of money to replace the heating system. The sales rep gave us comfort that everything will be done right and the two experienced and fully licensed professionals will be doing the work and that there is a no-excuse warranty, 1 degree guarantee, and 10 years on both the service and hardware. It just so happened that after the install, I told the installer I smelt gas and to check everything. He simply waved it off and said it's fine, give it some time. I told AJ Perri multiple times that there is a gas leak and I asked them to rectify the situation. I called them multiple times to send someone to fix the issue immediately and urgently, but they refused to commit to any resolution and won't send anyone until the gas is turned off for the whole building. I explained that its a condo and that the unit itself in the utility closet has a separate gas shutoff valve. Knowing this, they refused to remediate the gas leak."

"Terrible experience all around. Worker came out to rewire an existing ceiling fan so that it could also be used as a light. I had already purchased the lighting kit and was quoted a decent price to start. As The day progressed, it was one issue after another. Worker asked for a step ladder and proceeded to watch me (at 37 weeks pregnant) struggle to carry it up the steps and offered no assistance. He later stated that he had a “slight mishap” which resulted in him putting a hole in my wall. After he left, I discovered a second hole in the woodwork of my closet which he conveniently forget to mention. When it came time to pay for the work, the bill came out to be approximately $200 more than the quote provided in the morning. Apparently there is a service fee added on at the end which was never mentioned (not during first contact with owner, nor included in quote from worker). Worker stated that the project “took longer than I expected” in attempt to validate the service fee (maybe if you did not have to go purchase your tools at Home Depot in the middle of the day, or did not damage my home, the project wouldn’t have taken you so long?). The service fee was eventually waived when I refused to pay due to their lack of honesty. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the owner did send someone over to fix the holes as well as covered the cost (but only after I stated I would not be paying for the fix and owner agreed, saying “I guess it’s the right thing to do”). I will never use this company again nor recommend them to anyone. While the project was eventually completed and all was fixed, it was not worth all the stress and aggravation it caused me (especially so late in my pregnancy)."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Beach Haven, NJ

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
