"Very professional and knowledgeable on radon gas mitigation. Dan was able to take our radon levels from over 14.0 pci/I, way over the us epa action level, to 2.5 pci/I. I would highly recommend Elliott home services for radon mitigation. And if you have not had your house tested for radon, do it now."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"Mr. Bishton was able to schedule the inspection within a couple of days of contact. He was much more thorough than any other inspection service I have used. His report is thorough, easy to understand, and provides suggestions for improving the property in question. This is the second time I have used Benchmark. The cost of service also included radon testing."

"I was in the process of selling and decided to have a home inspection so there would be no surprise fixes when we got a buyer. Chris was timely and reasonably priced. He was very thorough, explaining things to me as we went along. He spent a good three hours in my small 1200 sqft house. He went into the crawl, the attic and the roof. He pointed out several things we had missed (like a few non grounded outlets) to major issues (a water leak in crawl space). He even caught an improperly connected dryer vent that I had just paid for. When the seller's inspection came in, it was very favorable and had NO surprise issues. "

"Epic Radon Solutions out of Brighton MI responded quickly to our Angi inquiry, and arrived within a couple of days to assess our system. We replaced the old fan with a larger new one, which Dustin was able to accomplish within the hour. Very helpful, explained everything, convenient online payment system. Recommended!"

"SWAT installed a radon mitigation system in our house as we are selling it and the buyers requested this after inspection. I had trouble getting in touch with other companies to provide the service and the other bids I had were much higher. SWAT answered their phone right away, gave me a quote on the phone (which was the exact amount I was charged) and scheduled to come out at my earliest convenience. The technician called when he was about half an hour away to let me know he would be there soon. He was courteous the whole time he was there. The only downside was that the installation took a long time, but that seems to be because of the dirt under our foundation that was difficult to dig through. They spent all day working on installing the system at no extra charge for the added hours. Also, I should note the price we paid included installation of the system and laying plastic sheeting over about 200 square feet of dirt crawl space. In my quote they said they would beat any competitors quote and with the great service we received, I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing to put in a radon mitigation system. <br />"

"I was present at the home inspection and they answered any questions I had. The price was on the lower end of what we what expected for the service.  They were very thorough and they did a good job.  They found a gas leak in the fireplace.  They turned the report around to us in a timely manner.  I would use their services again in the future if needed."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Bedford, IN

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
