"Tony at Carpet Elite did an excellent job stretching the carpet in our Master Bedroom and repairing a small hole that was caused by our dog. Tony was highly communicative and showed up when promised and completed the work as quoted. If you have damage to your carpet caused by a furry family friend Carpet Elite is the place to call."

"I have done a lot of home renovation projects in the past, and I wish ALL contractors were like Mike. From start to finish of this ENORMOUS project, Mike was amazing to work with. He showed up when he said he was going to show up, he responded promptly to emails and texts, and he remembered all of the little details that we discussed along the way. His estimate was accurate and included all of the components that we talked about, and then we made some adjustments to the original estimate, which were also perfectly captured. And on top of all that, his quote/estimate was one of the most reasonable ones that we received (and we got 6 quotes). He was so knowledgeable with the information and advice that he provided, and I had complete trust that he would do a superb job. We had to move out of the house while the work was ongoing. He kept in touch the entire time, providing updates regularly. I never doubted that things were going well and according to plan. He had a team of two additional guys and they were also very pleasant and very hard working. And the work that was done was unbelievable quality. It looks so beautiful - a complete transformation of the home! In addition to the flooring, we paid Mike to install new 6 inch baseboards, which was a great addition. I would recommend Mike and Universal Flooring to anyone who is considering new hardwood floors or any flooring work for that matter. We will certainly use him again in the future if ever needed. THANK YOU MIKE!!!"

"He did okay. It is holding up fine. I have used them before and they have been very good. The prices were reasonable, they did the job nice and cleaned up nice. There was one little problem I had with them but everything else was fine. They came when they should."

"We could not be happier with Brandon's work, punctuality, cleanliness, personality, communication, honesty, pricing, and overall character. We actually had contracted to do some extra work for a few thousand. Day 1 of the job, Brandon calls to let us know that we do not need to do the work as he took the time and effort to get other opinions on the installation of a beam. Again, character. He could have easily installed, but he took the time to do right by his customer and that, in our experience, is essentially unheard of. The work he completed for us-on schedule-was more than we could have hoped for. He really does great work, listens to the customer (we are guilty of making many changes and talking far too much), but Brandon is beyond patient and willing to work with you. If you are looking to remodel a kitchen, bath, or in general, look no further than Superior. You are hiring someone who truly cares about his work and the customer. Rare in any business these days. We will definitely hire Brandon when the time comes for our next project-no hesitation."

"Rudolfo came on a weekend on short notice to look at some drywall
repair.  He was on time and patiently explained process.  He is a great
guy and is very patient with my questions.  Unfortunately I decided to
hold off on the work till next year because I had to spend my budget on
other emergency issues.

"Overall we were happy with the outcome of our projects.  Bob was the member of Ken's team that did the bulk of the construction work, and really he was a pleasure to have in our house, always courteous and really went out of his way to help out with things that were outside the scope of the actual work (e.g. we had a dishwasher leak completely unrelated to anything else happening, and he cleaned that all up for us and even helped install a new dishwasher).
I'll go through each of the sub-projects:
BATHROOMS
We are very happy with the bathrooms.  The designer for the team, Sandy, did an awesome job with the bathroom plans and helping with the selection of all the finishes for the bathrooms.  (Sandy also helped us with paint selections for the rest of the house.)  Ken's tile guys do an excellent job.  When we purchased this house the bathrooms were a real sore spot (nearly stopped us from buying it), but now we have 2 bathrooms that we really love.  Our only complaint here is that we had 2 custom cabinets (one small bi-fold closet and one larger medicine cabinet) that are not quite up to the same level of quality as the rest of the bathroom.
HVAC
This was subcontracted through Tim Kerins Heating and Cooling.  They installed 2 units, one for the upstairs and one for the downstairs, converting our existing forced hot water baseboard heat to ducted forced hot air in the process.  This ultimately took much longer than we anticipated to complete, but we are happy with the outcome.  We did have a problem where the upstairs unit had a minor leak, and Tim came out quickly the next day to fix that.
CEILINGS
These came out great; the plasterers did quick work and there was no evident loss of height in plastering over the existing textured ceilings.
PAINTING
We had some significant issues with the painting.  The original group Ken subcontracted was terrible -- painted no more than one room per day, got paint on our couch and floor, was generally sloppy with edges and corners, and then abandoned the project when only about 1/4 complete and were never heard from again.  After several days of no showing and no word, Ken brought in a second group which did a much better job.  However, even they left some of the work unfinished (predominantly because the bathrooms/etc were still under construction), and so the job was ultimately finished by Ken's team (Bob, specifically).  There are still some areas that really could use some touch-up; nothing significant or obvious on a first pass, but with a fine eye there are areas where the old paint color bleeds through a bit or there is a touch of paint where it shouldn't be -- things that would be normal if we had painted it ourselves, but which really are not up to par for a professional painting service.
NEW WINDOWS
Ken recommended and installed Harvey windows for the whole house, which was a nice upgrade over what appeared to be original 1970s windows.  They completed the entire project in 1 day (after a lag time for ordering the windows), which was impressive.
UPSTAIRS REDESIGN (conversion of small bedroom to master closet)
Bob and co. closed off the original entrance to the room and opening up a doorway from the master bedroom.  It looks seamless, as if that's the way it always was.
GENERAL COMMENTS
We were happy in the end with the quality of the work.  However there were several hiccups in the process (most notably with the painting) that were very frustrating at the time.  The project itself could have been better organized and planned, and that probably would have gone smoother if Ken was there supervising on a more regular basis (he only ever came by if there was a problem or to pick up his payments).  Admittedly, we were under significant stress having just purchased and moved into this house, and with a fast approaching deadline of 2 babies on the way; and it's never ideal to be living in the house when so much work is taking place.

"The "Big Deal" included the walk through to provide the estimate for improvements, which the company provided, but it also promised many other things including a property analysis, market analysis, and estimated value of home after completion of work which I have yet to receive. I originally scheduled the walk through for Tue. 1/6, but they called that day to reschedule for the next day. Already that was an inconvenience since I had to coordinate with my tenant and leave early from work, but I understood that things come up. The following day, they left a message that they have to reschedule again, and then called back a few hours later to say that they didn't have to reschedule after all but the people doing the walk through would instead be about a half hour late (closer to 5:00p, than 4:30p). It was very confusing and getting a little annoying at this point. I showed up at the property at 4:30, just in case, and they were already there. It's a good thing I didn't wait until 5:00 since no one would've been there to let them in! After the walk through, I was told I'd receive the report in a few days. The following Monday (1/12) I received an email with just the estimate for improvements that they can provide, and no mention of the rest of the expectations from the Big Deal. When I emailed back to ask about it, the office rep said "We are actually almost done with that section of your report and that will be emailed to you by the end of the day today or first thing in the morning." Three days later (Thu 1/15) I hadn't heard or seen anything. I emailed again to check in and was told "We have a meeting scheduled in about an hour to discuss the best strategy for your property. The report will be to you by the end of the day." I'm not sure what strategy is needed to provide a market analysis, but I waited, again, and still didn't receive the report when promised. After yet another follow-up email today (Fri 1/16) I finally received the full report. To sum up, they eventually provided everything expected, and the quality seems fine, but there were too many frustrations and disappointing correspondences with unmet (self-imposed) deadlines that makes me not want to work with this provider in the future.

"Highly recommended!! Veloz was fast and made an excellent job! The repair was completely seamless and he made some smart arrangements with the carpet. The price was reasonable too. I am very satisfied with his service!"
Our main focus is to solve the problem, in this room we had to wait for the home owner frame the closet before polyurethane the floor. One more problem solved.

FAQs for carpet repair, refasten, or stretch projects in Bedford, NH

Removing a rug costs around $0.40 to $0.50 per square foot. This includes the fee for a contractor to roll up the rug and haul it away in a vehicle for disposal or recycling. If they need to move furniture, they might charge an additional $0.25 to $0.30 per square foot of furniture.

If your carpet has minor damage—like a single area that requires stretching, patching, or cleaning—it might be less expensive to pay for carpet repair than remove and replace it. Repairing carpet costs around $210 per project.

The cost of carpet cleaning is about $190 for a three-bedroom home, so it’s a good idea to have your carpet cleaned at least once a year. But most carpeting only lasts 10 years. If your carpet is nearing the end of its life span, it might be more cost-effective to remove and replace your carpet than to clean and repair it. The average cost to install a new carpet is about $1,800.

Search our directory of carpet removal companies and services to find an affordable, screened contractor near you. All HomeAdvisor listings are vetted, reviewed, and rated by homeowners, so you can be sure to find a local pro qualified for your project. Get at least three quotes to compare prices and the timeline for your project.

Commercial carpet removal usually costs on the lower end of the carpet removal price range, around $1.10 per square foot or even less. Carpet installation contractors often offer discounted rates for larger projects, like commercial carpet removal and installation. Similarly, you might be able to negotiate a lower residential carpet removal cost if the carpet is pulled up throughout your entire home.

Most cities accept old carpets as bulk trash, but you may need to schedule a special pickup and prepare the carpet properly. Remove any nails or glue residue, cut the carpet into manageable pieces, and roll and secure them. Alternatively, you can take your old carpet to a local recycling center for a small fee, where it can be processed and repurposed.

Yes, you can remove carpet yourself if you're ready for a labor-intensive task. DIY carpet removal requires heavy lifting and tools like utility knives, pliers, and pry bars. The process is generally straightforward but time-consuming for stapled-down carpet. If your carpet is glued down or you're worried about damaging the subfloor, hiring a professional is best to ensure the job is done safely and efficiently.
