"This is a truly great company. They provide great customer service and spend time explaining the details and answering questions. My husband obsessed about every single detail and could not deny that it was a no brainer. Our first electric bill since installing the panels was a CREDIT! I was not expecting that. If you have ever considered solar, seriously, just do it. Long term, you can not go wrong."

"The windshield on my Prius was replaced last June by another provider under my comprehensive insurance glass coverage, and this winter the car developed a sneaky water leak that caused mysterious intermittent electrical problems that cost over $1,000 in dealer diagnostic/repair costs until they accidentally saw water dripping on connectors under the dash. The other provider settled a warranty claim, actually totaling the car because of potential repair costs (likening it to a flood car), and we agreed to a settlement under which I retained the car for the settlement amount less salvage value.
I decided to keep and try to repair the car, so I asked them to fix the windshield leak, but they refused?washing their hands of the car after the settlement. So after consulting Angie I contacted Gregg Wickland of Glass Installers Plus to get a quote on resealing the windshield. He explained that the problem probably wasn't the windshield seal itself, but an issue with the plastic cowl underneath the windshield that diverts water from the fresh air intakes (this would have been removed and replaced during the windshield replacement). He suggested several diagnostic procedures I could perform to isolate the problem, and acknowledged that if the problem was the cowl I could probably fix it myself.
So Gregg not only talked me out of spending money on possibly unnecessary services, he spent about half an hour of valuable time pointing me in the right direction. That's service!
I will file a followup once I resolve the leaking issue.

"This project went very well. Nick Murphy was the Kevter Construction associate who worked with us on this project. He spent time discussing the project with us so we got the services we actually needed. He provided a copy of his liability insurance which my husband requests from every contractor we work with and pulled all the proper permits. He came on the days and at the times we arranged. He was very pleasant, professional and tidy in his work habits. The project was finished in a timely manner. The electrical inspector wanted additional grounding wire added to our water meter. Nick came out the next day to add that wiring at no extra cost to us. I love my new bathroom fixtures. I am also very happy not to have a thousand electrical cords dangling from the basement ceiling light fixtures in my husband's shop area. My husband is happily buying welding equipment for his new toy. We would very definitely work with Nick again and recommend him to our friends."

"Emailed company for an estimate to repair or replace some interior doors. Got a prompt reply and set up a time for the appointment. The owner assessed the job and told us that repair was all that was needed, not replacement. He also gave us some insight into a future job that we are considering and could consider the company for. The repairs were able to be scheduled within a week and the job was well done. Only snag was a little mix up in the time that the job was to start, but this was very minor. Overall we are very happy with the experience. We very much appreciate the experience level of the people we dealt with (Jim and Tom).

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Belle Plaine, MN

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
