"We used Luminous Electric to upgrade our 100 amp panel to 200. Shane communicated quickly & efficiently, mostly over text. His quote was competitive and there was no pressured upselling. He was also able to accommodate our timeline. On the day of install, he brought a helper to minimize the amount of time our busy household was without power. Looking forward to working with him again."

The problem with most "pros"? Too many bad habits.\nIt's easy to get swept away in the day to day monotony, even for those that call themselves "pros". When it comes to hiring a heating and cooling technician, nobody wants to deal with being treated like a sale rather than a person, the use of scare tactics instead of education, or someone who just wants to get to job done quickly instead of correctly. \nAll our HVAC pros go through 5 years of HVAC schooling, for a total of 10,000 hours of on-the-job training. And it's not just technical training either; it's training that focuses on you, on making you feel comfortable every step of the way. We will roll out the red carpet for you, both figuratively and literally.\nRed Carpet Treatment\nDuring every visit to a home, we lay out an actual red carpet to prevent any additional mess. But what may be even more important than just protecting your home is making sure you feel like you've received the best in customer service.

"C.R. was hired to replace my meter panel and breaker box and rewire the way some electrical connections were made. Mr. Anderson put in a hard days work together with his assistant. He was pleasant, very knowledgeable, and had a very good understanding about how to complete the work I requested. His charges for the service he provided were reasonable. If the need arises, I would certainly consider using C.R. Electric again."

"Work included the installation of six LED light fixtures in the living room to be controlled by a dimmer switch, power to be supplied from an outlet that was previously split so one-half the outlet was controlled by a standard light switch. Started looking for an electrician in early November and used both Home Advisor and Angies List for leads. Jay (Miletti) came out and provided an estimate within a week of the call. With one other exception, the other electricians identified by Home Advisors and Angies List did not respond to the invitation, I guess they had too much work or the job was too small. I was able to solicit two additional electricians through word of mouth but their bids were considerably higher. I finally decided on Miletti in mid-January. I contacted Jay and he came out the next day to finalize the paperwork for the job. Five days later, Jay and his assistant were doing the work; prompt response. The job was not difficult but it did require experience to minimize the amount of damage to the walls and ceiling to run the wire. Jay and his partner, Jake, spent a total of about 18 hours (between the two of them) carefully running the wires to the penetrations where the fixtures were to be installed. Jake took care to install the cans with minimal gap so the fixture is unlikely to slip. In hindsight, I am glad they did the work since I probably would have been too impatient. In the end, they only needed two extra openings, one in the ceiling next to the wall and one in the wall to thread the wire; both were patched before they left. I have a little touch-up patching but I expected as much. They cleaned up nicely after their work. The job was finished the same day as they started and the results are completely satisfactory. Based on they pricing and the quality of their work, I intend to contact Miletti (Jay) when I require additional electrical work. Further, I would not hesitate to recommend Jay to my friends that may require electrical work. One other point, before they left, I asked for one of the boxes that the LED fixtures came in because the brand was not familiar, I shop at The Home Depot and Lowes. Jake told me that the fixture came from a local supplier in Elizabeth and that they try to support local businesses with their business. That might not mean much relative to the quality of their workmanship, but I do think that says something about their character."

"I am beyond pleased with the services that Lenzi Electric, LLC has provided. The Electrician Larry Lenzi and his assistant went beyond what I expected by identifying the electrical needs required by the municipality and even putting in an electrical outlet that was not actually present and a 220 line that was not required. I cannot thank them enough. It is superb electrical services from fully licensed and insured technicians. The price was fair and comparable as well. I thank them for assisting me and Angi for having them as a contractor."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Belle Vernon, PA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
