Reviews of Bellevue Kitchen Renovation Companies

Project: Remodel a Kitchen
Renton, WA w

With this being our first remodel and submitting 1/2 payment up front (standard for construction work) we were slightly nervous about what to expect from this project. Alex and team care deeply about the quality of their work and meeting the customer's expectations though and for that reason alone I would hire them again in a heart beat. They ended up doing a full remodel in our kitchen and almost a full remodel in our bathroom. I am rating them a 4.5 on quality because of some issues we are having with the final details, but a 5 in customer service because they are doing everything in their power to correct those issues. The one recommendation that I have is to make sure that everything you want is in writing and you have worked closely with your project lead to ensure that they know every detail. Also, if you have an older home to make sure that is known up front to ensure the team is prepared for any obstacles they may encounter. Our kitchen is complete and we love it, such a better use of the space. The bathroom is 95% done and we are loving it as well! Thank you NW General Contracting for helping us with a much needed makeover!

Project: Remodel a Kitchen
Seattle, WA w

We brought in Alex & Rodolfo (NW General Contracting) to consult with us about improving our kitchen which was at least 20+ years old to envision what would be needed to improve our kitchen both in both usable space, appliances, new counter-tops, cabinets and and flooring using a $30K budget. They came back with many ideas of how to improve both the space and the layout of the kitchen, which we approved of. After about 3-weeks of not having a kitchen to having a kitchen we were finally able to begin using our new kitchen, which we love. I will definitely use them again should I eventually do a bathroom remodel since they were able to conquer all the many problems that a 1929-era house will present as they demonstrated in our kitchen.

Very satisfied with my decision to hire NW General Contracting for my kitchen remodel. Genesis and Alex were great and I would hire them again for future projects. I was not sure if I was going to change the flooring, but found out that it would fit my budget if I worked with this company. I had them remove my old cabinets replace the tile flooring, remove the soffits, assemble and install new cabinets (that I had bought at IKEA). Overall great experience, from availability to timely and adequate completion of the project, as well as responsiveness to feedback to achieve the desired results. Thanks guys!

Kitchen Remodeling in Bellevue

With its combination of small-town charm and big-city businesses, Bellevue, Washington appeals to a diverse population of families, young people, and professionals in the tech and banking industries. Part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area, the city is situated just 10 miles east of Seattle across Lake Washington. The cozy neighborhoods and glimmering skyline house more than 126,000 people, making it the fifth-largest city in the state.

Homeowners in Bellevue have a variety of reputable contractors to choose from to help them complete their kitchen remodels. Because of the size, scope, and expense of this type of project, it’s best to select licensed, bonded, and insured professionals who have the experience, skills, and knowledge needed to get the job done correctly and in accordance with local regulations.

Local Costs for Kitchen Remodels

Kitchens are some of the priciest rooms to remodel because of the complexity of the project. Many factors affect the price, including the size of the room and the materials that the homeowner chooses. Although it’s an expensive project, most homeowners receive a 60 to 120 percent return on the investment. Bellevue homeowners should scale their remodels according to the design and overall value of their homes. For example, moderately priced condos in Interlake don’t necessarily need the huge, chef’s-grade kitchens found in a multimillion-dollar mansion in Enatai.

To put the local costs of remodeling a kitchen into perspective, first consider how they compare to national averages. While the national average for a kitchen remodel runs around $20,079, costs in Bellevue average $27,265. Most Bellevue homeowners spend between $15,364 and $40,453 on kitchen remodels. To break it down further, consider the types of upgrades commonly available at three different price points.

$10K-$15K Remodel

New sink and faucet

Build a kitchen island and install laminate or engineered flooring

Hardwood floor installation

Replace countertops with ceramic or man-made tile

Replace countertops with wood, metal, or stone countertops

High-end granite countertop installation

Refinish cabinets or install stock cabinets

Install custom kitchen cabinets

Design and install custom cabinetry

Install new mid-range appliances

Install high-end appliances

Install premium, EnergyStar appliances

As the above table demonstrates, homeowners have a variety of options available when it comes to remodeling their kitchens.

Necessary Licensing and Qualifications

Homeowners should select professionals who are licensed, bonded, and insured. Like any other home improvement project, choosing uninsured professionals leaves homeowners on the hook for any costs associated with accidents or damages that occur during the course of the project. Washington contractors are required to carry insurance policies of at least $200,000 and maintain bonds of $12,000 for general contracting or $6,000 for specialty contracting. In addition, any interior designers involved in the project should have references and the experience and knowledge necessary for transforming the homeowner’s vision into reality.

Other Projects to Consider

Many Bellevue homeowners opt to take advantage of this opportunity to upgrade other key areas in the home. For example, while the plumber is on hand working in the kitchen, he can also help upgrade fixtures in the bathroom. While replacing the kitchen floor, it often makes sense to continue the flooring throughout the same level of the home to give the space a more cohesive appearance and better flow.

Prominent Neighborhoods in Bellevue

Downtown Bellevue appeals to young professionals who enjoy living in close proximity to the bustling businesses that also call downtown home. Trendy nightlife, delicious restaurants, and a variety of high-rise apartments and condominiums create a hip community and a vibe that's distinctly different from Seattle, while still offering close proximity to the big city.

The Interlake neighborhood offers loads of amenities, including restaurants and nightspots in addition to a strong housing market, good schools, and a combination of single-family homes, condos, and townhomes. More affordable than some of the ritzier neighborhoods in Bellevue, Interlake appeals to young professionals and growing families who appreciate the access to parks and close proximity to downtown, which is only about six miles away.

Abundant outdoor recreation and stunning views of downtown Bellevue, Lake Washington, and the Seattle skyline make Enatai a gem among Bellevue's various neighborhoods. This small community in West Bellevue offers a short commute downtown, stellar schools, and large green spaces that appeal to the families, retirees, and professionals who call Enatai home. Ritzy single-family homes and sprawling multi-million dollar mansions create an upscale vibe. Homeowners here typically opt for higher-end kitchen remodels.
