"Fantastic job. Very helpful in determining best finish and plan. Able to work around our timeline. Prompt and careful work done. Also able to refinish some old water damage and matched existing stairs (not being refinished). Floors look beautiful and brand new!"

"Ini was very professional and accommodating. We were redoing our condo in uptown, and we were here on a tight schedule, and he accommodated us and made it happen. And the floor looks amazing. Carlos the refinisher was excellent and he was great to deal with. Highly recommend!"

"We had carpet replaced in three bedrooms and hallway. From start to finish, sales to installation, everything went without a hitch. The sales manager helped us pick just the right flooring and the installation team did an excellent job. The floors are just beautiful and everyone was very professional and a pleasure to work with."

"We needed to replace and refinish our floors, and Dwayne Elwood was the first person I thought to call. He’d done work for us previously and did an amazing job. Trustworthy. Made a commitment on the date and showed up each and every day until it was finished. Kept in contact so that I knew how things were progressing. That was important because I had to move out for the work to be done. And my floors look fabulous! Very competitive in his pricing as well. He is a small family business with many years of experience. If you need new floors or just refinishing existing floors, I think you’d have a great experience with Elwood's Refinishing."

FAQs for wood flooring refinish projects in Belmont, NC

Rental sanders can address moderate surface damage, but their effectiveness depends on scratch depth and overall floor condition. Drum sanders offer the most aggressive removal capability for deeper imperfections. However, if the damage extends into the wood structure or affects large portions of the floor, board replacement by an expert might be necessary before sanding. Consult a flooring professional for help.

Always thoroughly review the manufacturer's operating instructions before starting. Wear appropriate safety gear, including goggles to protect your eyes and a respirator to prevent inhalation of dust. Inspect electrical components before each use to prevent shock hazards. Keep children and pets away from the work area, and maintain a clean space by frequently vacuuming dust accumulation to prevent slipping and to ensure you can see well.

Sandpaper requirements depend on floor size, condition, and the sanding approach. Plan to use multiple grit levels (coarse, medium, and fine) with at least one to two sheets per 100 square feet for each grit. Floors with significant damage or multiple finish layers will require more coarse-grit sheets. Purchase extra supplies before beginning because running out mid-project can cause visible inconsistencies in the final result.
