"I needed to replace my home's original deck. A friend recommended Jim Pull with Premier Exteriors, so I had Jim out for a consultation and estimate. I'll say right away that Jim has a kind and gentle personality, and he struck me as being very honest. Once we settled on a design, Jim sent me a quote with digital drawings and a fair price. Once we gave the go-ahead, Jim took it from there. They kept me updated as to the status of the city permits, as Omaha was backlogged. The crew performed their work in a timely and professional fashion. They were very respectful, personable, dedicated, and their workmanship is top notch, as is the quality of the materials. I am very pleased with my larger, beautiful, and SOLID new deck! I'm also extremely pleased with Jim and the crew at Premier Exteriors! I would definitely hire them again for future projects. I couldn't be more pleased or impressed with this company."

"The Carlson Projects Inc was recommended to me by a friend who referenced how they take pride in their work and pay attention to detail. My introduction to the Carlson family went well and the journey began in creating a beautiful bathroom. I was especially grateful to Cody Allen and Shawn Carlson who provided recommendations with color, design and quality products. This 100 year old house had so many secrets and surprises and Cody and Shawn were able to problem solve and work through every obstacle. Shortly after signing the contract for this project the co-vid pandemic hit the community. I was impressed how the Carlson family and crew was able to respect social distancing and still assist me with product selection and ordering the needed materials to keep the project moving. Most important for me is to recognize Cody Allen for over-seeing this project. He was informative, organized, hard working and has great interpersonal communication skills. He kept me updated to the challenges of an old house and sought advise from his peers. I feel he has a great career ahead of him. Thanks to all the Carlson family and crew!!!!! Alan Fulton"

"Ken and his staff were professional and willing to work with our existing partitions. We painted the walls and vertical portions of the closet. Ken and his team added new shelving and rods, completely transforming our closet. The shelving is extremely well made and the unique rods allow hangers to slide easily without scratching the finish. We highly recommend Ken and his team."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Bennet, NE

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
