They assigned different contractors to do the construction work. One of the contractors said that the job was too big and that they could not do it, which was fine. I respect that. The secretary stated that she would try to find other contractors to do the job. The owner came and walked through the house and we spoke about what needed to be done in the house. I did not feel confident in his contractor because he seemed that he did not know what he was doing. I wanted him to do one specific thing. The owner wanted to take down the whole wall. I just wanted to reopen a small section. I started to feel like they were pushing me. For those reasons I felt uncomfortable and did not go with them. The quote was detailed.

I signed up for an Angie's list back splash tiling deal. I didn't quite understand the intricacies of choosing tile and installing it.  I picked a somewhat elaborate pattern with natural stone tiles. I wanted what I wanted, and Brian and Sam worked with me to get the result and I agreed to pay a supplement to the big deal which I found very fair.
I appreciated that they consulted me if they had any questions about exactly what I wanted (e.g. precisely where to put the medicine cabinets, how to finish the tile where it ended at the edge of wall). I'm happy with these solutions.  They also came up with some very creative solutions around the kitchen window that really enhance the tile work. 
We discussed the merits of fully replacing the staircase vs saving the wood that was discolored but generally in good condition.  Overall, the cost was the same, but I appreciate the option to send less building materials to landfill and get a good result.
They were going to install the fireplace granite tile, and they ultimately did not do this as their specialty is in smaller ceramic tiles, and the 24" x 24" stone tiles I purchased needed equipment they don't have.  I really appreciated discussing this.  I think it will be much easier to have someone who specializes in stone to complete this part of the job because Sam did all the hard prep work.
I feel that the team was generally very conscientious about cleaning up after themselves. The only thing I wish I would have done is draped my furniture and made sure various doors were closed - it's a much bigger clean up job than I expected, and I might have been able to avoid some of it.  On the plus side, that part of the house has undergone an early spring cleaning!  And I know that half of the dirt preceded this project.
The project was completed exactly when promised, with allowance for a snowstorm at the start. I gave a B for punctuality because I did get up early to make sure the snow was cleared from the driveway and they arrived later than planned.  I have had the experience more than once that contractors don't show up for days, so an hour or two is a small matter for me, but I note it because if you needed to get to work yourself or something like that, you would probably want to be sure to have a clear agreement.

"We contacted Richard regarding the job, and had a quote back within the week - good quote.  He quickly responded to any questions  we had, and scheduled the work.  They completed the demo in one day, a few days before the cabinets showed up - if I had to do this again, I would hold off on the demolition until the cabinets were in, as it is difficult to live without a kitchen, especially with children.  It took approximately two weeks for the kitchen to be completed, with slight delays due to a damaged cabinet, time for the new countertops to set, appliance delivery, etc.  One hitch developed when the dishwasher was hooked up incorrectly, and water ran into my basement - I called Richard, and once I got through the answering service, he contacted the plumber, and we resolved the problem immediately over the phone, and the plumber was at my house at 8 the next morning ( a Saturday of a holiday weekend) to permanently fix the problem.  At the end of the two weeks, we had a great new kitchen, well installed, and we were thrilled!"

"I hired Carefree home pros again to reface my cabinets in my laundry room, and the extra large vanity in a bathroom. We also had new corian counter tops installed. What was especially helpful was their ability to help design the a color scheme to give us a new look that I would be happy with but that would also be appealing to someone when we finally decide to sell the home in the next few years. When calling the (888) you are cordially greeting by Randy, who is one of the owners of the company. He has excellent communication skills and sets up your free estimate within 24 hours of your call. Randy, goes out of his way to make sure everything is on point from your first conversation with him until the job is done. I can really go on all day about this company, but I can just say, bottom line, in a business full of rip off artists and poor results, LSI has changed the game and turned this business upside down! I will never call another company for any home or office needs, LSI pretty much does everything except roofing I think, although they should probably get into that as well. Anthony, who also is a partner, arrived at my residence on time, total pro, got the jobs done within 48 hours and I had a long punch list including; painting, fixing exterior siding, garage door install, carpet rip and new wood flooring, then 50 or so minor tasks. As I said, don't think twice, I have already recommended this company to several friends and family, oh... and LSI has a standing promotion that when a client refers 5 new customers, they will provide you with a free entire day or labor for any projects you have, looks like I'm 1 person away from getting my free day, maybe they will let this be my fifth."
