"Justin Castleman is a very knowledgeable and professional plumber. He is willing to help diagnose issues over the phone if you feel like you're handy enough to do some things yourself but want to have a professional opinion before you get in over your head. <br /> In my case the ceiling below my upstairs bathroom shower got saturated and fell down so I knew I had an issue with my shower above. Using Angie's list, I found Justin's business and saw he had good ratings so I called him and he gave me some things to try to determine where the leak was coming from. I was able to determine it was coming from the shower's drain flange so I scheduled a time for Justin to come by which was within 2 days. At the time I scheduled this little did I know that I'd be losing my job the next day so income was now non existent. My shower was leaking, however, and I needed to get it fixed but now I needed it done on the cheap rather than paying for the full job as I was planning on. <br /> Justin arrived at the scheduled time and I told him about my situation and he understood and was willing to work with me to make sure I got my shower drain fixed but not "break the bank" in the process. He told me some things I could do to save some cost and suggested I go to one of the "big box" stores to get the supplies we needed in order to save some money. I got the supplies, did some demo work and Justin installed all the parts with a little help from me and everything worked out great. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome or for a better plumber to work with. <br /> Take my advice and call Justin if you need any type of plumbing work done...you won't be disappointed. <br />"

"First trip out they told me my old faucet was not repairable (it was leaking). They told me a new faucet would be $325.00 or so. I told them I would buy my own and have them install. Plumber did a good job and was in and out in no time. Bill was $318.00 for 2hrs labor and $44.00 for materials for a total with tax $381.91 which I thought was high. I supplied the materials and $159.00 per hr. seemed high. But I was satisfied with the job."

"This is the second time that we used Milestone Plumbing Inc. Alex did both jobs. In the most recent job, Alex put in a new kitchen faucet; a toilet flushing mechanism was changed. Alex is the consummate professional plumber. I highly recommend Alex and Milestone for your plumbing needs."

"We couldn’t have been happier with Exact Remodeling!! We absolutely love our new kitchen. It was a complete gut job, down to the studs, walls removed, the works. We had such a smooth process from start to finish and the cost was reasonable and lower than we expected for all that had to be done. We had heard there can be so many problems with remodeling so we kept waiting for something to go wrong or not turn out right and it never happened! Truly we had a wonderful experience with everyone at Exact! Brook, our designer, was always available at all hours of the day or night for opinions and feedback and ideas. I loved working with her!! Paul, Jim, Brian, and everyone else who put so much into this were wonderful and a pleasure to see every day. I appreciate the people of Exact and everyone they used for the job. I would recommend this company to anyone and everyone!"

"Everything was too notch. Clearly knew what had to be corrected, worked quickly, efficiently, and cleanly. The new pipes are tight and leak free. Pricing better than I anticipated. Nice guy too. No issues with masking up either. Highly recommend."

"The first plumber that I called, assured me that a hot water heater replacement job would cost around $1000. However after he got here, the price somehow escalated to a little over $1300. Had I been told that over the phone, I would have saved him a trip and myself the cost of a $62 service call fee. Although I have hired Gene Wagner's Plumbing on three other separate occasions, I decided to maybe cheap it out this time. Bad decision... 3 hours after making the call to Gene Wagner's, I had a new installed Rheem hot water heater and the plumber was on his way to his next client. That call saved me $300. Lessons learned...."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Big Bend, WI

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
