"I researched basement waterproofing solutions and was considering doing it myself. Then I found Safe Basements and read the literature about their product/process. To me, it seemed better than other similar products. I was surprised that they cover my place -- 2 hours into Wisconsin, or 3 hours from Litchfield. Brad came out to inspect the problems in my basement -- horizontal cracking, bowing, and water intrusion. He was able to explain the causes of those problems as well as others that I hadn't noticed. We agreed to pay for anchors to stabilize one wall that was bowing, and install drain tile and a sump pump. I'll be honest, I didn't shop around. I have no idea what other companies are charging for the same services. I normally get 3 or 4 bids or other opinions. I felt comfortable with the amount of research that I'd done, the knowledge Brad seemed to have, and the information about the products that I decided to hire Safe Basements without talking to other companies. I don't regret that decision. The wall anchor/stabilization crew called me before leaving Litchfield. Their ETA was pretty close to the actual time of arrival. When they arrived, we discussed the work being done. They did the work. They cleaned up. They gave me information about the anchor system and what I needed to do to correct the bowing and cracks. Everything was done as expected. The drain tile/sump crew was stuck at a previous job. They called me the day before (Tuesday) my job was expected to start to let me know there would be a delay starting my job. He then called in the middle of the start day (Wednesday) to let me know, they wouldn't be to my house until the next day. I was expecting a call between 7 and 8 on Thursday to let me know they were leaving Litchfield. Instead, I got a call at about 7:15 to let me know they were 15 minutes from my house. When they arrived, we talked about the work to be done, they cocooned my stuff in plastic, and they went to work. I think they worked until about 7 that day. They returned on Friday at about 8:30, having stopped to dump my concrete and dirt and to pick up gravel and concrete. They worked until about 10:30pm on Friday. I appreciated that they finished on Friday even though it was later than I expected. They cleaned up everything thoroughly, and walked me through the details of the sump pump and battery backup systems. Even though they'd driven a long distance, worked two very long days, and it was very late Friday, I didn't feel they rushed through. The job was complete. I think they would have stayed later if I'd had anymore questions. Unfortunately, one of the workers left his very nice tape measure, and I have not been able to get it back to him."

"Maybe they do amazing work, I have no idea. I called 3 times over the course of 2 weeks and submitted requests for estimates twice. I spoke with someone 2 or 3 times on the phone and each time I was either told to go submit a request on the website or that he remembered my note and would go find it and email me with a time to set up an appointment asap. It never went any farther than that. If you are too busy or have other things going on and can't respond, that's totally understandable but please just say so so I don't waste my time. I'm rating a C b/c I'm going on the assumption that SOMETHING was going on that would legitimately explain this otherwise inexcusable behavior."

"<p>These guys walk on water. First they show up on time!!! Second they are some of the nicest people we have ever met. The quality of work is beyond anything we could have hoped for.</p> <p>When the insurance company tried to pull a fast one with the settlement, Mike stepped up and went to bat for us and he fixed the problem with our insurance. It did not matter to him, he was going to get paid either way, but this is the kind of stand up guy Mike is.</p> <p>We where going to have the roof put on last fall, but Mike was concerned about the weather getting cold and encouraged us to wait until spring. He went up and repaired the problem areas and sealed the leaks so we could make it through the winter. Never charged us a dime.</p> <p>When it came time to do the roof, the material showed up on time, all the colors were correct. The crew showed up when they said they would be here and work hard all day. The clean up was incredible. "We very much appreciated the services of Criterium-Schimnowski Engineers. Their engineer was knowledgeable, listened to our concerns and put us at ease. We had noticed an uneven floor in a basement bedroom and a small crack in the exterior cinderblock as well as some deterioration in cinderblocks at soil level at the rear of our house. We had 4 foundation repair companies give us free estimates: American Waterworks, Innovative Basement Authority, SafeBasements of Minnesota, Inc and DBS Residential Solutions, Inc. All recommended push pier installation but different numbers ranging from 4 to 10 piers with a lift procedure. This is not an inexpensive procedure. All said they had engineers at their companies who would review the plan and be sure it was appropriate but we felt there was a conflict of interest in favor of the company's assessment. We had our home insurance field adjuster come out and he felt that there were no serious problems that would require piers. We decided to hire an independent structural engineer to give us an unbiased opinion. We chose Criterium-Schimnowski based on online reviews; looked on the Better Business Bureau but found none. Additionally, the fact that this firm has several engineers on staff gave us more confidence than companies with just a single engineer because there is more wisdom with many heads than one. The engineer determined that our foundation was structurally sound and no piers were needed. He recommended the deteriorating masonry be repaired, foundation landscape grading be done and that masonry gaps consistent with settling be sealed and closed. With his assessment, we have peace of mind and will save considerable money, not needing pier installation, and will use those savings instead to have the masonry and landscape grading done. He took the time to understand just what I wanted to do, answered all my questions, and gave good advice. He’s serious about wanting to do a good job and giving me what I wanted.
