This was probably more difficult than most jobs they do since it was inside the wall, but it was still completed in the same day along with a second job, installing a new exhaust duct for our hot water heater. We were very pleased with how well they kept the dust down. This is very dirty work, don't be deceived, but they tried to keep it down as much as possible. They helped with moving some furniture, laid down drop cloths, put up plastic to seal off the living room where they were working and cleaned up afterwards. Best price we found for doing this job. I can't say enough good things about these folks: all businesses should operate this way.  When I first contacted them about the needed repairs, they replied promptly.  After every question I asked, I received a prompt, on-point, thorough answer.  The things I needed done were not emergencies, so I told them that whenever they could find time they could do them.  They promptly scheduled an appointment about 3 weeks in the future.  I somehow feel that if I had had an emergency, they might have been able to get to me much quicker.
On the day of the visit, they arrived promptly, and found the townhouse and the visitor parking on their own.  Both workers were intelligent, analytical, skilled, good listeners, thorough, efficient, careful and knew how to do everything on the list.  They went to Home Depot on their own for supplies.  We talked about one potential future project, not in the maintenance and repair category, and they said the would be able to do that as well (install new French doors).  They were friendly and polite and a delight to have in the house.
I engaged them to do work on my daughter's house, which is in their service area.  I am so impressed with them that I want to pay them travel time and mileage to work on my house (not in their service area).
I think the best thing about them is that they are able to do so many different things.  If you have a whole list of things requiring different skill sets and find it discouraging to have to locate a group of different people and set up different appointments, I would definitely run everything past these folks first.  They're outstanding.

"It is with great pleasure that we offer our review regarding the work that was performed by Jake Stern, Mason and his crew.  Our project began as a ?simple? rebuild of our 30 year old gas fireplaces, two of which involved upgrading the gas
inserts and refacing the original fireplaces and adding hearths and mantels. 
In our investigation, we discovered that one of the fireplaces contained a very large old hybrid wood stove/fireplace system that
required special skills to remove before the new system could safely be put in place.  Our search for a competent skilled mason took us several months of interviews, and we learned very few had knowledge of or expertise with this old system.  We finally found Jake, a third generation mason, who both knew the system and how to safely remove it. 
Jake is a true artisan.   He chose each individual stone, built two new beautiful fireplaces and installed new hearths and mantles.   During the construction, Jake?s team laid out floor covering over our hardwood floors and carpeting and created
the minimum amount of dust in our house.   The results were magnificent and we now realize the whole project was
well worth the effort.
We cannot emphasize how wonderful Jake and his crew were and how well they worked.  Jake and his team take great pride in their work as they well should.  We would recommend them without hesitation for your masonry work and we will definitely use their skills on projects we have identified for the future.
