"Very happy with the work Sean did to replace the track rail on our Milgard sliding patio door. He was friendly, professional, and able to fix the problem without having to remove our door from the frame. The $470 price was reasonable, compared to the cost of replacing the door. I would definitely hire Sean again for any work on our doors."

"From start to finish, the experience with Lake Washington Windows & Doors was amazing. Great communication throughout the whole process. This is how home improvement projects should be run. The installers, Erik and Luis, were very professional and did a great installation and clean up. Would recommend in a heartbeat."

"Emerald City did a A+ job earlier in the year when installing two wide bedroom windows and a new kitchen door in my home, so when it came time for the storm door (with a built-in doggie-door), I knew just whom to call. Communication and scheduling (Lixia) are professional and service (both on-site and when visiting the showroom) is great. I was able to choose my storm door from viewing it online and with a brief chat from the fellow (Mike?) without a showroom visit. I've worked with Tipton twice for my installations. He is dog friendly, which I appreciate, and an all-around peach. Emerald City gets my highest recommendation."

"Dan did a great job installing the LiftMaster 8550 Replaced my 18 year old LiftMaster died. He also said they need to replace the garage door rollers, lube & tune service. My garage door has been very noisy for 18 years, now it is so quite. Great Job Dan...thank you. Total Cost I thought was really high."

"When the tech came to install on Oct. 9, it turned out that the wrong size door had been ordered. So he left and our installation date moved to Nov. 18. Vasiliy came and did a good job installing the new garage door. The only beef I have is that the sales rep, Mike, did the math wrong on our sales contract. He missed adding the door opener so the overall quote was $400 less than it should have been. Learning experience for me: check the math! Argh!"

"We bought the deal for patio sliding door replacement  and couldn't be happier. Everything went smoothly from start to end, no surprises.  Bill showed up on time, installed the new door with great attention to detail, addressed all my concerned and left the spot in ideal condition. It's been almost 6 moths since we have the new door and we love it.  Planning to hire them again for entry door replacement.  Would definitely recommend Ethos to anyone looking for a door installation/replacement.

"Attila was able to come by at a time convenient for me, to inspect, measure, and quote me a repair price. It is a full-view patio door, which had mysteriously become shattered one day, although the glass never fell out. It is dual-pane thermal glass. He had excellent prior reviews, which is why I chose to call him. Attila inspected it and said "no problem, I've done it many times". This was welcome news, since I had weeks earlier called a different glass guy who took one look and declined the job. That guy said he wasn't sure he could do it without damaging the trim strips, and that new trims might be hard to find. But Attila was not afraid to take it on.
So we accepted the quote and scheduled the repair for first thing on a weekday. Attila and his assistant arrived exactly on time, and they got the old window out using an array of specialized tools and skills. The old glass was really "in there" with some kind of adhesive, so it was a challenge to get it out, but they did it without any damage. Then the new glass went in perfectly, and there is no evidence that it ever happened. The trim strips were fine, and they vacuumed up the glass debris. The whole job was done and cleaned up in under two hours.
I would call Attila Musci first, should I need any other glass repairs in the future. If he would do the windshield on my jeep, I would hire him for that too, but he doesn't do auto glass.

FAQs for storm door installation projects in Black Diamond, WA

For mobile homes, look for a lightweight storm door designed specifically for manufactured housing. A slimmer frame eases installation and reduces added stress on the doorway, while removable glass or screen panels allow you to switch between airflow and complete protection in minutes. The result is solid weather defense without unnecessary weight and a door that remains easy to operate season after season.

A well-installed and well-maintained storm door can add modest value by improving curb appeal, increasing security, and reducing energy loss. If the door is faded, dented, or hanging loosely, those benefits disappear—and may even harm first impressions. Professional installation ensures the door seal is correctly aligned and keeps the hardware in place, allowing the upgrade to deliver both visual and practical benefits that buyers notice.

Most storm doors last 25 years, and high-end models, when properly cared for, can reach 50 years. Lifespan depends on the frame material, glass quality, and the amount of punishment the door receives from wind, rain, or sun. Regular cleaning, fresh weatherstripping, and prompt repairs keep hinges tight and glass secure, helping the door reach its maximum lifespan.

Allow three to five hours to set a standard pre-hung storm door if the opening is in good condition. If you need to widen the frame or repair wood rot, expect the job to take a whole day to complete. A seasoned installer can complete the job faster and ensure the door sits square, seals tightly, and operates smoothly, saving time that often outweighs the DIY time commitment.

Most single exterior doorways can accommodate a storm door, provided the frame dimensions match those of the new unit. Patio and sliding glass doors are the main exceptions because their tracks won’t support the extra door. If you’re unsure about clearances or hinge placement, consider bringing in a door installer to measure the opening and recommend any necessary adjustments for a secure fit.
