"The evaluator/estimator (Jeff Hoffman) came out the day after I called, explained what needed to be done, give me the estimate before he left and we scheduled the work for the following Monday.  On Sunday, the foreman (Paul Hoffman) came to the house and looked over the work area and discussed the work with me, later that day the eqpt was delivered.  The workers arrived first thing Monday morning and went to work.  The work was completed that day, Paul Hoffman explained all that they'd done and suggested an excavating company to work on the area and create a more natural drainage route for the rainwater, to keep it from settling right next to the foundation. <br />"

"I used Commercial Service for plumbing twice. The first time I had a leaky faucet in the kitchen. A new faucet was installed, but not properly, as it never had high water pressure to the hot water side. I lived with it for a year. Then I had two different leaky faucets so I called them again to fix two different faucets, one inside and one out. Those fixes went fine. I asked them to fix the water pressure on the original mistake, it was fixed. Then I tried to run my dishwasher, long story short the water to the dishwasher was never turned back on. I thought the dishwasher was broken and called a different appliance repair service to come. They informed me the water was turned off. And I had to pay a service call fee for the plumbing mistake. When I called Commercial Service they said they would “let the boss know.” That was about 2 months ago and I never heard anything. I wouldn’t use this plumbing service again. Two mistakes in two visits is too many for me. I rely on Angie’s List for quality reviews and I was let down this time."

"On Friday night (of course), we discovered that our water heater had gone out and its warranty had ended this past January. While we knew it wasn't an "emergency" situation, we were hoping to be able to find someone to come out and replace over the weekend. Our first attempted provider (one with whom we had an existing plumbing relationship) fizzled out. Our second attempted provider gruffly responded that he wasn't working that weekend. So, yes, Justin Dorsey Plumbing was our third call this time, but next time they will be our first. We are delighted to have been able to hire a local Hendricks County company and that they were able to come out and service us so quickly and at no extra charge for the weekend hours. Same day service on a Saturday was truly amazing to us. It was what we were hoping for, but we really weren't sure we'd find it. <br /> As far as the actual water heater goes, seemed to be a smooth install. Paul was friendly and courteous. Only time will tell as to the quality of the unit, etc., but for now I am a super satisfied customer. <br />"

"Our experience with Indiana Crawl Space Repair was excellent. They presented a plan and we were under no pressure to accept, but we are glad we did. The crew worked hard everyday to complete the job as scheduled. They did an excellent job in repairing our floors and crawl space. I wouldn’t hesitate at all recommending this company for your crawl space repair needs. Good job!"

"Attempted to cleaned out the line with a short snake, got very little out, claimed that the block could be in inside plumbing. Backed up again within one day, same guy returned with a longer snake and cleaned a lot of roots out. No problems since."

"I received same day service! A service rep was in my area working on another call and was available after completion. The time-frame stated was pretty accurate, the service person was efficient and explained why he needed to go to the hardware store to get a part to fit my pipes. <br /> The only weird thing was being told in addition to the service fee charge, an additional $5 was going to be added for a truck fee. I would assume those expenses would simply be included in the basic service fee charge so maybe Young's might just say what the total fee is without parceling it out like that. <br /> Fast, friendly and efficient - I will definitely use them again! <br />"

"We asked Rick to come out to give an estimate for repairs requested by the person buying our home. He was extremely diligent in taking notes about what we needed and came prepared with the inspection report in hand. He delivered a very reasonable quote the next day. We will definitely recommend him to our family and friends. Thank you Rick!!"

"I waited a year to write this review so that my wife and I could have a decent amount of time actually using what Aaron Prange (of Built by YOU) made for us. We have a small bathroom in a modern house built in 1968, which we wanted to renovate in an appropriate style. We had a recently acquired vanity top with fixture that we like a lot, but everything else needed to be changed. We consulted with several remodeling contractors before settling on Aaron. The reason was that he was the only one with a clear vision of how to proceed and really take into account our wishes. Others did not want to try retaining our new vanity top, while replacing the vanity cabinet, but Aaron was willing. He arranged for us to have a beautiful new cabinet made by Tim Graber Furniture, and he reinstalled our top seamlessly. He figured out how to expand the depth of the walk-in shower (replacing a narrow tub) without making the space seem cramped. And he had great ideas about lighting, as well as an idea for a large new mirror (also from Graber). We researched and picked out shower surrounds and plumbing fixtures (from Hoosier Winsupply -- highly recommended), flooring (from ColorTile), paint (from Bloomington Paint and Wallpaper), and we also had a mold remediation outfit (Bloom Environmental) carefully take out our moldy drywall ceiling. Aaron arranged for all the work to be done in the right sequence and with very minimal delays. He did a good deal of the demolition and construction work himself, with one co-worker. He was very good about communicating about the schedule and next steps. The work site was clean, with quilted moving mats forming a path from our front door into the bathroom. The job was completed maybe a week late, though much earlier than the other contractors were willing to promise. The job was done during the first half of August, which seems to be a busy time for contractors. We are thrilled with the result and enjoy using the space so much more than the old one. The cost was fair and stuck very close to the original estimate (barring a few things that we asked for after the estimate was done). Not everything was perfect: there was a minor alignment problem with the shower surround, due to nothing in our house really being at right angles. Some of the shower caulking has degraded by now and really needs to be refreshed, and a mounting flange for one of the shower fixtures has come loose. These are pretty minor compared to what could happen with a project in which the walls, ceiling, and much of the floor was stripped bare. I would not hesitate to call Aaron for a consultation on your next remodeling project."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Bloomfield, IN

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
