"They did the job as they said. Completed the replacement on time. The only thing was the cleanup required a callback. The company quickly cleaned up the problems and did so without complaint."

"RPI said they used their own crews but they had sub contracted a crew to install my roof (All Roofing companies do this). After the old roof was removed and it was dried in, they came back the next day and were installing shingles in the rain on a wet roof. I had to ask them to stop and come back the next day when it was not raining. The GAF Cobra2 Ridge vents were installed incorrectly, Only one side of the ridge was cutout on all the ridges. I had to ask them to do them over. One of the ridges was overcut + 3 inches on each side where the vent was not even supported properly. That was the main roof. I had to get another manager involved, convince them it was not installed correctly, then took over a month to get them back with a crew and the proper materials to correct the problem. They used top quality materials and the end result turned out great after the ridge vent issue was corrected so I'm giving a B rating."

"The blaine construction team wer ecourteous, prompt, and provide me with great service and recommendations. After my intialinitial consultation, James provided me with sound guidance and recommendations. I can say that the Blaine construction team aim at helping thier client make the best decision both in quality and pricing. Once the project was started, they arrived on time and work to completion in a timely manner. I happy with how my flooring turn out and glad I listen to thier recommendations. Afterwards blaine construction offer me some minor home repair which I jump at the chance since i was pleased with they're pricing and work ethics. Luke came out and complete all the repairs in record time and again I am pleased with the final results. I would highly recommend blaine construction to anyone looking for home projects or repairs."

"Peter always showed up when he said he would show up, stuck to the original estimate and did great work.  Before the most recent project, I  had used him to finish an unfinished basement, repaint the entire inside of the house, and install trim.  Now that he has moved out of New Jersey,  I sorely miss having such a reliable contractor to call upon when needed.. <br />"

"No more leaks. Did the job by taking off roofing and paper, and replacing plywood underneath as well as new paper and roofing. Would have been nice to have a better color match, but not a huge issue. Good work and prompt, but for 4 hours work it seemed very expensive."

"Price was average price from which all the people were charging the same amount. On quality, the only reason I'd say a B was they used to advertise that they didn't use nail guns to put the shingles on and then they just recently went to using the nail guns and I had found enough nails in my gutters and in my yard after they were done that I could roof another roof myself. That's my biggest complaint against them. Plus they did damage to the brand new gutter I had just put on the house too. So I mean I give them B for quality I guess. They gave me the explanation of why they had to use the nail guns, but I don't know if they were just too rushed doing the work or if they still learning how to use those guns, but I just thought it was an unacceptable amount of loose nails. They're brand new nails. They weren't the nails that came off when they stripped the roof. It was what they were using to put the roof on with. Still to this day I got a magnet that I run across my yard before I cut my grass because I keep finding nails. I'm aggravated with that part of it. They did a great job on doing the roof and other than damaging my gutter; which they fixed, but we've had some heavy rains this past week and it's come loose again and we've already called them to come out and fix it the second time. I don't want to give them a C. On responsiveness, a lot of people around here are getting their roofs redone since Matthew came through in the Fall, so taking that into consideration I give them an A. On professionalism I give them a B just for the reasons I've already mentioned. I would use them again, just hopefully by the time I need them again; which would hopefully be 25 years."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Bluffton, SC

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
