"Courtesy Electric re-wired our large 1940's house to bring it up to current codes, and we could not be more satisfied with their work. After experience very shoddy work by two other electric companies, I found Courtesy Electric and I will never hire any other company, but Courtesy Electric. They are highly professional and completed the re-wiring to the standards that I had hoped would be the result. Previous work that Courtesy Electric provided us was to undo the work of another electric company that had incorrectly wired some of our breakers. I highly recommend Courtesy Electric for any electrical work."

Small jobs welcome

"Harold was prompt and professional.  He diagnosed the problem and did everything he could to try to avoid having to add the new circuit so he could save us money.  The original wiring was too much for the current circuit breaker, so he had to add the circuit.  Harold had to crawl around in our attic to get this job done, and he did so efficiently with minimum mess.  Any mess there was, he cleaned up.  We will definitely call this company again, and will request Harold as our technician!

"I can't say enough great things about Service Trade Pros and their electrician John! I initially called another company (Best) when I experienced power outages in parts of my house, even though all the panel breakers were on. They quickly told me my panel was completely broken, a fire hazard, and needed to be replaced—for a shocking price of over $9,000! Feeling uneasy about that, I decided to get a second opinion from Service Trade Pros, and I'm so glad I did. John arrived promptly, thoroughly inspected my panel, and found no major issues. The panel itself was not a fire risk at all—the real problem was a single breaker that wasn’t working properly. Instead of pushing an unnecessary replacement, John simply replaced the faulty breaker, solving the issue for just $150! Honest, knowledgeable, and professional—John and Service Trade Pros saved me thousands of dollars with their integrity and expertise. If you need an electrician, this is the company to call! Highly recommend!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Bonita Springs, FL

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
