"Braxton with American Roofing and Metal was able to secure us a full roof replacement when no other company would even try after it was rejected the first time from State Farm. I struggled for months fighting with them myself until I was referred to American Metal and Roofing. Braxton came out within a few days and assured me he would help me get this taken care of. He was thorough with his documentation, called our insurance company daily to hold them accountable, and kept us updated every step of the way. In one month he accomplished what we couldn't in the previous six. Can't say enough good things about this company! Would give them 10 stars if I could!"

"I received a roof inspection and a proposal for 14,000 roof repair needed.  I did not need any windows caulked, however, I received no other repairs, attachments, patching up, sealing/resealing.  I now know that I need major roof repair, but couldn't some patchwork have been done, sealing.....something until I can get the roof repaired?  Anyway, lessoned learned.  Once again, when I pay for an Angies List "deal", it usually cost me more than the quoted price or in this case, Huh????  I'm not doing this anymore.

"The roofing crew, Antonio, Mario and crew boss, Carlos were the some of the hardest working guys I've ever seen. Antonio and Mario worked from early in the morning into the evenings to get the job done. They were very friendly and offered a cheery "hello" each morning they arrived. The gentlemen working on my chimney were Javier and his helper Ruben. They did a fantastic job making my chimney look like new. I sincerely appreciate the attention to detail and enthusiastically recommend Wes Beams and his crew for your next job."

Can't say enough positive things about my experience with Window City from the initial meeting to the install. I was in need of replacing all 11 of my old metal windows in my ranch style home. After getting 4 different bids I choose Window City - what a great choice!! Greg walked me through the product details, the estimate was really the final cost!! Everyone was very professional, knowledgeable of their craft and VERY respective of my personal property both inside my home and outside. Ron and Elijah did the install - they are very hard working, know what they're doing, work very well together, professional, respective of property, cleaned up after they were done and I don't know how they managed to finish the job in the pouring rain. They kept everything dry but themselves. They should really be commended for their fantastic efforts to get the job done in one day!!

My home is now very soundproof, airtight, secure  and very pleasing to the eyes with the Vista Window.  I've already recommended Window City to my friends, neighbors and co-workers and will continue to do so.  Thank you Window City!!

"As stated, we had a very serious issue with the original box gutter contractors.  A "one week" project had turned into a multiple month project that was punctuated by near begging for incremental payments and random leaks in our ceilings (we did not have leaks before the work began).  Before releasing the final payment to the contractor, I looked up Abrams Roofing and Sheet Metal (it is very hard to find folks who have experience in box gutters), and I got agreement from my existing contractor to allow me to hire them to inspect the work that was done by them.
Abrams was happy to take the job, but I did stop by their office in person and explain the situation and what I wanted.  They sent someone out within a week (in fact, we didn't have to be home for the inspection).  They compiled an over 40 page report with some 50 pictures of the good, bad and ugly of what had been done to our gutters by our pre-existing contractor.  I felt good about the report because it was so detailed and they mentioned and took pictures of some areas that they said were done very well (i.e. the expansion joint welds).  I think I paid about $200 for this report (well worth every penny).
I emailed the report to my existing contractor, who admitted that they had serious issues with their workmanship and did not fight any of the report items that Abrams had compiled (they had connected copper with roofing caulk in places, had improper flashing in many locations, poor welds in multiple locations, and standing water in at least one section of the "completed" and completely newly installed box gutters).  They halfheartedly said they would come out and fix the issues, but I had lost all trust in them, so I got them to agree in writing that they would walk away from the job without a penny more from me in exchange for me not writing any reviews of their service.
I called Abrams and asked them to quote the price for them to fix all the issues.  It came out to just a bit below what would have been the final payment I would have owed the original contractor.  They were busy, so I believe it took a month for someone to get out and do the full remediation of the roof (re-weld and replace some sections of the copper, proper flashing, additional downspout installation, etc).  I was VERY pleased with their work.  They were very professional, fair priced, and stuck to the facts at hand.  Also, though they took a few weeks to get out to fix all the issues, it rained and we started to get leaking due to the shoddy work they were going to fix.  My wife called them and they came out that day and did some basic fixes to stop the leaking until they could get out and redo all the problems from the original contractor.  They charged us nothing for this (didn't even come up).  I would rehire these folks in a heartbeat, especially for box gutters.
It has been two years now since they did the work, and the gutters are great and no leaks.  I would have written this review earlier, but I couldn't find their company on Angieslist (not sure why they have removed themselves from the listings).  It is clear that they are experts, especially in atypical roofing like box gutters, and they take pride in their work and reputation.  They seriously saved the day after we had spent outrageous sums of money on charlatans.  If only they were listed on Angies List when I was originally searching for someone to redo our gutters, I might have avoided the whole mess in the first place.

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Boston, KY

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
