"Mike from Dead On Electric came out and fixed my circuit breaker and other smaller electrical issues I was having in my home. He was efficient and very helpful, since I know literally nothing about electrical stuff. He quoted me a decent price too. Definitely would call again if I ever had problems in the future."

"This company upgraded all out outlets and switches, corrected wiring deficiencies and replaced and upgraded our breaker panel. Excellent crews, professional, polite, helpful and they showed us everything that was needed, why it was needed and after the work showed us the results. They ensured that everything was perfect after the work was done. They were the roses among the thorns. Our wiring and breaker panel were close to causing a catastrophe. These men were a life saver. I felt we spent and received the best money could buy. They are family owned, honest, extremely hard working and a pleasure to work with. Excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I recently discovered an issue with the smoke detectors in my home. We originally had seven hardwired smoke detectors with battery backup, but four of them were not showing the normal solid green power light. Since the house is only 10 years old, I knew something wasn’t right. Eddie from Myers Electric came out and immediately impressed me with his professionalism, friendliness, and determination to solve the problem. He is the kind of person you feel comfortable having in your home. What stood out most was his persistence. At first, the problem didn’t make sense. He checked the detectors and wiring connections, and everything appeared to be connected correctly. Rather than guessing or taking shortcuts, he methodically traced the wiring to find the root cause. That’s when he uncovered the real issue: a junction box had been covered by drywall during construction. The wiring for the smoke detector circuit ran through this hidden box, which should never have been concealed and likely"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Boulder City, NV

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
