"James Holm & Sons just finished renovating my coach house and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience and results. From the beginning, meeting with Jay to go over my ideas and budget, it was clearly evident that this company was thoughtful, intelligent, highly skilled and considerate of me the client. It did take some time to get on the schedule as the company is in demand, but Jay kept in touch with me throughout the wait and it was certainly worth it. Once work began and I met the entire crew I could see each member was a consummate professional. Terry was amazing, ensuring all electrical, plumbing and carpentry was safe, durable, properly done as well as to my liking. John the Master Carpenter was effortlessly skilled. Matt, the Master Painter, took care with every surface; no spraying - all rolled and brushed on, multiple coats and the right type of paint for each room's use. Jason who worked on every part of the job was as capable at each aspect (electric, plumbing, carpentry, flooring, painting and tiling) as the masters and did a great job sorting out the preexisting bad wiring, making sure I understood all he did. Jerry, Matt's assistant painter was as careful and considerate as Matt and the rest of the crew. Each crew member worked hard every minute of their time here, they hardly took any breaks other than for lunch, which they almost always ate on site. The work went quickly and beautifully. There was never a problem they didn't have multiple solutions for. I'm so happy I chose this group. I know my home was done the best it could be within my budget. I also know if there is ever an issue, these guys will take care of it and me. I couldn't be happier with the entire experience."

"Anthony, owner, with Eddy & Kevin showed up around 9 a.m. & ready to go, scraping & preparing surfaces for painting.  It took two days & the front looks completely refreshed.  Already set up time in spring to do outside upstairs front & all back windows, trim, door, gutters. Personal Touch Painting is reasonable & does a great job.  What more could you ask for. <br />"

"The job went really well he started on January 4 and was done less then two weeks. He gutted my whole bathroom putting in new walls, shower, vanity and floors. I had a really out dated bathroom I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it he even gave me some good ideas and it came out great! Thanks Justin!"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Bourbon, IN

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
